DRAMATIC AND SEXY

There's always room for dark and handsome interiors in my book. Although some people might feel a dark color palette can make a room look gloomy and smaller, this sexy French home makes a good case for the opposite. The secret is in mixing different shades of gray and black to create dimension and interest in every room. In this particular abode, the use of white, cream and wood accents add the right amount of light to complement the stunning dark hues. Talk about drama!

PICTURE PERFECT

When it comes to interior photography, Amsterdam-based Marc Heldens Publishing has spent the last 20 years producing, with the help of renowned European photographers, some of the most amazing interior porn. His eye candy has graced the pages of a few of my favorite shelter magazines like Vogue Living and Elle Decor. So you can get a glimpse of his impressive body of work, here are some magnificent interiors shot by photographers Mark Seelen and Verne Photography. Enjoy!

CHARM BY THE INCH

I'm quite amazed how every single inch in this minute studio apartment in Lyon, France, has been utilized to the max without sacrificing a bit of charm or style. Conceived by design studio Maison Hand, this home feels airy and larger that its 380 square feet thanks to their clever use of white. The use of natural materials in the decor also adds the right amount of warmth and coziness to complete the look. But one of the features I love most about this lovely abode is how with simple elements like baskets and mirrors they created a whimsical focal point on the walls. Truly magnificent!

MOROCCAN REVIVAL

I love mixing decorative styles in my designs, it makes things a bit more interesting and a better design overall. Although it can be at times tricky, two completely opposite styles can merge beautifully in a room. This past weekend I came across this stunning riad in Marrakech and it simply blew my mind. With the help of French designer Romain Michel-Ménière, a British expat transformed an old home into a serene and stylish oasis for her and her mother. By seamlessly blending the traditional Moroccan architectural features from the house with a more modern and minimalist look, they were able to update the house and create a dreamy place to call home in their adoptive new city.

NORDIC CHIC DOWN UNDER

Looking at the beautiful Nordic style of this home you would think this gorg house is somewhere in Denmark or Stockholm. But I was pleasantly surprised to find out it's actually in Melbourne, Australia. With the quintessential Scandinavian color palette of black, white and gray, Whiting Architects created a stunning habitat. The occasional wooden accents around the house are the perfect touches to add warmth and spontaneity. I'm in love!

WARM MINIMALISM

This might not look like your typical hotel room, but rather like a fabulouusly designed set of a futuristic movie. But these minimalist interiors are in fact part of the new OKKO Nantes Château designed by Parisian designer Patrick Norguet. The four-star hotel in West France promises a very unique lodging experience to its guests and one to be remembered for the stylishly warm and minimalist rooms where white is king.

A GREAT NEW ADDITION

When it comes to renovating a kitchen, IKEA, in my humble opinion, is by far your best bet. Ever since I started my love affair with IKEA, I've designed all my kitchens (and even those of my clients) with their fabulous METOD cabinets. They're great fun to design with and truly not very hard to install. But the talent of IKEA never seizes to amaze me. I'm beyond excited they're expanding their already fantastic kitchen system by introducing METOD — a brand new line which is simply to die for. With new cabinet sizes, different door choices and accessories, METOD gives you endless possibilities to design the stylish kitchen you've always wanted. What I love most about this new kitchen line is it's versatility and sleek features. I can't wait to see it in person.

A MASTERFUL RENOVATION

Before going on and on about how fabulous this Parisian pad is, I want to take a moment to wish you all a magnificent 2014. May this year be filled with joy, wonderful surprises and a whole lot of design fabulosity :) OK, now let's get back to drooling a bit more about this newfound jewel in Le Marais. The renovated petit loft is the genius work of architect and interior designer Fleur Delesalle who masterfully created a dreamy place to live for her client. The apartment is divided in two by a double staircase (which I love) creating an almost mirror image of the space—with the living area in one side and the dining/kitchen on the other. I'm impressed by the feeling of space Fleur was able achieve in just 538 square feet including both levels. Simply amazing!
