Entries in White (200)
Deciding what color to paint a room is often a task on its own. Can you remember how many times you've stood in front of a sea of color chips with a blank stare on your face not knowing which one to pick? I've certainly done it way too many times, especially when faced with the hard decision of choosing the 'perfect' white. That's why, as a contributor to My Colortopia blog, I chose to break down the myths about this terrific neutral and its many tonalities in a post for their Color 101 series. I invite you to take a peek and get the nitty-gritty on this popular color that will help you decide which one is the right one for your project. Besides white, the series also expands on other color families and gives you tips to help you make the right color choice. Enjoy!
I have been sponsored by the Glidden® brand paint for PPG to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Contrary to their name, these Like Paper Lamps are completely made in cast in concrete. The one-of-a-kind lamps are uniquely designed by German designers Miriam Aust & Sebastian Amelung — each one of them made with their own set creases and folds. I particularly love how they look hanging in a set. Aren't they amazing? Enjoy the weekend!
If you're into nature and love the rustic side of things, Orchard Keepers is a country chic holiday accommodation where you can sit back and relax under a giant Sequoia tree. Located in the heart of Red Hill in Victoria, Australia, this dreamy retreat is the ultimate country getaway for a family or group of friends. Chalk-white walls and waxed floorboards set up the stage for its beautiful and cozy decor that incorporates comfy linen sofas, provincial antiques, vintage furniture, art works and gorgeous lighting all sourced from all corners of the globe.
I'm quite amazed how every single inch in this minute studio apartment in Lyon, France, has been utilized to the max without sacrificing a bit of charm or style. Conceived by design studio Maison Hand, this home feels airy and larger that its 380 square feet thanks to their clever use of white. The use of natural materials in the decor also adds the right amount of warmth and coziness to complete the look. But one of the features I love most about this lovely abode is how with simple elements like baskets and mirrors they created a whimsical focal point on the walls. Truly magnificent!
I love mixing decorative styles in my designs, it makes things a bit more interesting and a better design overall. Although it can be at times tricky, two completely opposite styles can merge beautifully in a room. This past weekend I came across this stunning riad in Marrakech and it simply blew my mind. With the help of French designer Romain Michel-Ménière, a British expat transformed an old home into a serene and stylish oasis for her and her mother. By seamlessly blending the traditional Moroccan architectural features from the house with a more modern and minimalist look, they were able to update the house and create a dreamy place to call home in their adoptive new city.
It's that time of year when we all have a list of small projects around the house to get it ready for holidays and our guests. One that I have been putting off for a while, but I knew I couldn't procrastinate any longer, was revamping this cute little vintage desk I found a few months back in one of our many trips upstate New York. Don't get me wrong, the desk was in pretty good shape but I felt a fresh coat of paint will liven it up and give it a new fresh look. As a contributor blogger to MyColortopia, I came across this amazing Glidden Trim & Door paint that I knew would work wonders for my project. Since it's an oil base paint, I knew it would give it the glossy, lacquer-like finish I was going for.
This calm and cozy Dutch home makes me want to lounge and relax, exactly what I'm looking forward to doing this weekend. The beautiful mix of natural materials and comfy textiles creates a soothing and warm ambiance. What are your plans for your weekend? I hope you're doing something fun.
