A TOUCH OF VINTAGE MODERN

I'm glad I stumbled upon these wonderful swinging wall lamps created by Logan Hendrikson from Onefortythree. Logan started designing and building furniture and lighting fixtures for his own house to later launch his online shop where he sells his mid-century inspired collection. His lamps are hand-bent and welded with durable powder coated finish in matte black or gloss white. The sockets are made of real Teak or Walnut wood veneer and wired with a cloth twisted cord to give it that vintage feel. I'm really liking the simple lines of these lamps. They're perfect if you're looking to add a little bit of industrial chic to your home.

MAKING A STATEMENT

Known for his persuasive, up-beat style of communication, English graphic artist, print-maker and designer Anthony Burrill has made words and language an important part of his work. He has developed a distinctive voice that is sought after not only by fans of his posters and prints but also by clients including Wallpaper* magazine. His simple, yet powerful prints are a fun way of communicating an idea or mood in your home. The now-famous “Work Hard and Be Nice to People” message has become a mantra for the design community and beyond.

A TIMELESS CLASSIC

With just a couple of days left until we ring in 2013, time is running out to get a cool calendar for your wall. There are tons and tons of options out there, but if you're looking for something stylish and timeless, I'd consider Massimo Vignelli's Perpetual Wall Calendar. First introduced in 1980, this classic (and my all-time favorite) calendar can be used month after month, year after year while being a super graphic piece or art for your home office.

‘TIS THE SEASON

Believe it or not December is already here and the Holiday spirit is everywhere you turn. So I guess it's my turn to start infusing some Christmas spark into my humble abode and get it ready for this festive occasion. This year I opted for not having a tree but instead create special little vignettes around my apartment. Here is some delightful eye candy from the home of Norwegian stylist and blogger An Magritt that beautifully capture the essence of the Season in that charming Nordic style. I hope they get you in the Holiday decorating spirit as they did to me.

FOR THE LOVE OF BIKES

Apart from being a fun source of transportation, the bicycle has become a chic lifestyle accessory both on the road and at home—particulary in small dwellings where, because of the lack of space, it's forced to blend in with the decor. As a result, tons of clever solutions for stylishly storing bikes have been sprouting about in the marketplace. One of my most recent finds is the Kappô, a rack/storage combo that perfectly combines form and function. It was created by a Berlin-based team of avid cyclists, designers, and collectors that have taken it upon themselves to develop bicycle furniture that meet the highest standards of functionality, individuality, and design. What's great about the Kappô it's that it makes a clear statement in the room, even when the bike is not hanging on the wall. Love it's simpliicity and clean design!

RESPONSIBLE PAINTS

Believe it or not these beautiful color chips are made of recycled paint. Yes, you heard right. British interiors brand Mini Moderns, in collaboration with award-winning Newlife Paints, has created a 12-color collection of environmentally responsible paints. If you're wondering how they managed to do it, here's the scoop. They recover paint that has been thrown away in landfills and convert it into a premium grade matt emulsion with lovely coverage and a chalky finish. How clever is that? Plus the soothing color palette they chose to create is rather lovely.

HOOKED ON HOOKS

I have a thing for hooks and always get über excited when I come across new designs that go beyond the expected. I love the simplicity of this modular version conceived by German industrial designer Sarah Böttger in collaboration with Meike Langer. The H2 hooks are made of a synthetic material and can be connected to create a fabulous sculptural rack for the foyer or bathroom. Even when not being used, the grouping will become a fun decorative piece for your wall. Fun!

THE ABC'S OF STYLE

Are you looking for ways of quickly adding spunk to your home? Well, oversized letters might be your ticket—they're great graphic elements that will inject some fun to your home in a flash. This trend of using typography in your decor has been around for while, but it's one that never gets old. Today's dose of eye candy will give you some ideas on how to incorporate this trend in your space. i'm particularly love how the giant ‘E’ above is used as a bookshelf while creating a strong focal point in the room. It's seriously bananas!
