Transforming Vision

It takes a very creative mind to see the hidden potential of used and beat up scraps of furnishings. Thomas Wold is one of the lucky ones who has the vision to transform someone else's rummage into one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces of furniture. His multi-disciplinary studio in the San Francisco Bay Area focuses on the design and fabrication of original and personal creations. It's amazing how he takes fragments of old desks, cabinets, tables and other found objects from different styles and combines them to construct these incredibly whimsical compositions. I find them absolutely wonderful.

Colorful Identity

For someone who's in constant search of storage solutions, I think I've found some of the coolest cabinets out there. They're the new members of the Collect Cabinet family designed by Swedish Design Studio A2.  They aim to create a new, young and brave brand that dares to realize interesting and a bit different ideas. They simply want to challenge the furniture world. I'm simply in love with their work for its strong identity and distinct almost-graphic expression. The patterned doors and the neon-like colors of the Collect 2011 cabinets make them pieces de resistance. But being a black and white fanatic, cabinet No. 24, named after the 24 white and dark grey fields in its doors, is one of my faves. The cabinet's size is about perfect, making it ideal for bedrooms, foyers or hallways. I wish I had the room in my apartment for one of these beauties (Big sigh)... Anyway, the impeccable craftsmanship of Studio A2 extends beyond cabinets, so take the time to check out their complete line of gorgeous furniture. Enjoy!

Organic Storage

I'm loving these handcrafted pod-like storage vessels inspired by marine crustaceans. The Barnacles, by Plodes, are adaptable units that can be displayed on a wall to store small items. Although they come as a set of three, you can buy more and create a fabulous design — they look awesome even as a sculptural piece. The gel-coated fiberglass buckets are simple, elegant and to the point. A beautiful way of storing your little treasures.

A Toy-Box Story

I hope you had an amazing Christmas. Mine was great. I spent most of the day with family and friends, and had the most amazing afternoon stroll through the Born district in Barcelona. Although not many people were out, still felt festive with all the kids showing off their new possessions that Santa had left them under the tree. Now with all the new trinkets and gifts comes the worry of where to store these extra goodies. That's when you need very cool and smart storage to hide them in style. This Ogle Toy Box is a fun and practical piece of furniture that any child would love to have as part of their bedroom. Plus it's designed with a cut-outs on all four sides to prevent kids fingers from getting caught. Don't you love it too?

My top 10: Bookcases

Are you one of those bookworms with volumes of best sellers and magazines, but with no special place to keep them stashed? These buddies that keep you entertained day after day deserve better than sitting on big piles around your pad. Here are some of the front-runners on my list of favorite bookcases in the market. They're different and fun, and some unexpected. Also, if you've always liked the look of a formal library and cannot afford to have one, you can get the look with this very nifty Bookshelf Wallpaper — a fun twist for any room. Happy reading, in style!

A simple solution

This clever and super functional wall rack is a very easy solution to store your bike and still make it look good. The Cycloc, designed by Andrew Lang, was the winner of the Consumer Product Design of the Year award. The intelligent design allows you to store your bike either vertically or horizontally and gives you four colors to choose from. And I love the fact that it's made out of 100% recycled post-industrial plastic. It's perfect for small pads.
