A TINY PAD WITH A BIG PERSONALITY

It's hard to believe this gorg and functional apartment in Moscow, Russia is only 485 square feet. I have to say the design of this studio apartment is quite brilliant. The designers took advantage of every single inch of space to incorporate much needed storage solutions. Additionally, I think that raising the bedroom area on a platform was very smart: it created separation from the living room and kitchen and also extra storage space. By the way, the use of a unifying color story throughout the apartment actually makes the home look bigger than what it is. The soft pastel palette is adorable and very fun. I have a new crush!

CHARM BY THE INCH

I'm quite amazed how every single inch in this minute studio apartment in Lyon, France, has been utilized to the max without sacrificing a bit of charm or style. Conceived by design studio Maison Hand, this home feels airy and larger that its 380 square feet thanks to their clever use of white. The use of natural materials in the decor also adds the right amount of warmth and coziness to complete the look. But one of the features I love most about this lovely abode is how with simple elements like baskets and mirrors they created a whimsical focal point on the walls. Truly magnificent!

A MASTERFUL RENOVATION

Before going on and on about how fabulous this Parisian pad is, I want to take a moment to wish you all a magnificent 2014. May this year be filled with joy, wonderful surprises and a whole lot of design fabulosity :) OK, now let's get back to drooling a bit more about this newfound jewel in Le Marais. The renovated petit loft is the genius work of architect and interior designer Fleur Delesalle who masterfully created a dreamy place to live for her client. The apartment is divided in two by a double staircase (which I love) creating an almost mirror image of the space—with the living area in one side and the dining/kitchen on the other. I'm impressed by the feeling of space Fleur was able achieve in just 538 square feet including both levels. Simply amazing!

KEEPING THINGS IN ORDER

No matter the size of the pads we live in, we're always complaining about not having enough storage space. Whether needing extra room to put away your nick-nacks or receipts for tax season, these nifty storage boxes from Knock Knock will give you a hand at keeping your pad clutter-free and your stuff away from nosy people. Aren't they cool?

LIVING SMALL BUT IN STYLE

With mere 226 square feet of space, this tiny Madrid apartment has stretched its diminutive size to the max. The narrow 100m3 apartment was designed by Studio MYCC, who maximized every single inch available. They were able to ”accommodate several pieces, which are limited in volume but at the same time all are visually connected to each other. Even the bathroom is within sight.” Its simple and spare decor also helps to visually enlarge this urban shelter. It's amazing what they did.

LEANING BEAUTY

I'm always in constant search of innovative pieces of furniture for my projects. Especially when working in small spaces where I need to get creative and make the most of the limited square footage. So scoring multi-functional pieces is always a good thing. Take for instance the Lean Man Side — a smart looking side table/bookshelf designed by Frank Flavell. Its slim and minimalist design makes it ideal as a night stand or side table. I guess I hit the jackpot!

GUEST STYLE

Who says small can't be cool? This fabulous guesthouse in Denmark has all you can ask for a conformable and stylish weekend in the country. The 53 square-foot annex was beautifully designed by Martin Degener Architect outside of Copenhangen. I'm quite certain the lucky guests staying in this chic retreat will enjoy all the amenities one can dream of and more. Happy weekend!

A SMALL WONDER

It's hard to believe this beautiful pad has a mere 312 square feet of space. Polish Architecture Studio 3XA took advantage of every single inch to create a sleek place to live in. The stairs-turned-storage is the focal point in the space, while the high ceilings augment the sense of space. Their limited use of materials and color helps create a simple yet stylish layout with everything needed to live comfortably. I'm blown away by their smart use use of plywood in the decor—it gives this apartment a modern and warm look.
