A LITTLE BIT OF MAGIC

It doesn't take much to convert your nest into the space you've always dreamt of. With a little creativity, some TLC and a gallon or two of paint, you can really do magic. That's what Sofia and Nils did when they moved into this sweet Stockholm apartment. Wanting to visually stretch the space, they painted the whole apartment, including the floors and trims, white. They also thought that by removing the old closets and creating custom built-in shelves to display their books and accessories, the apartment would feel more personalized. Like many DIYers, Sofia is a flea market junkie. She has a knack for spotting amazing finds she can later transform into cool-looking pieces to add to her industrial chic home.

TRAINING IN STYLE

I've always enjoyed working out, especially if I feel extremely motivated by the space I'm going to be spending part of my day exercising in. Most gyms are raising the bar when it comes to their look and services. They're trying pretty hard to make members feel special by creating a welcoming atmosphere. It's not just about how good the equipment is but how stimulating everything around them can be. Architect Andreas Martin-Löf designed this exclusive fitness club in a former post office building in Stockholm. He paid special attention to details to create a homey space where people can enjoy their workout to the max—and making a not-so-enjoyable chore for some more enjoyable. I would join this gym in a heartbeat.

A RUSTIC SURPRISE

It really doesn't take much to create a peaceful environment for your home. This charming flat in Stockholm is a perfect example of how simplicity combined with great taste can do a lot. They used the bones of apartment to highlight its beautiful original architecture. Their neutral color palette is enhanced by sprinkles of peacock blue spontaneously scattered around their home. But the most amazing feature in this Scandinavian home is the distressed pair of doors that lead to the bedroom—they add a cool rustic surprise to a very impeccably clean decor.

FLIPPING IT AROUND

Leave it to the fabulously ingenious Danish design and architect studio Norm to come up with such a cool multifunctional piece of furniture. The Flip Around Table for Menu is incredibly convenient for small spaces as it gives you the best of both worlds: a beautiful stool for extra seating and a table that can serve as a night stand or side table. How handy is that? I simply love everything they do.

FUNCTIONAL & CHARMING

This genuinely functional and relaxing Stockholm flat is characterized by an instinctive sense of light and openness—a Scandinavian design trait I simply love. The apartment is predominantly white which helps enhance the beautiful artwork and colorful collection of accessories. Although it's a modern and minimal space, the fireplace gives the apartment a touch of old charm, honoring the building's history.

IN PERFECT HARMONY

I can't grasp with the idea that April is already here, and Summer will arrive in a blink of an eye. But for now, let's celebrate the beginning of a new month with this gorg kitchen from our friends at Sköna Hem. In a striking palette of black and white (one of my favorite color combos), this kitchen shows how this two opposites can come together in perfect harmony to create such an welcoming space. Ideal setting for a Monday morning cup of joe.

SCENT AND SENSIBILITY

One of the many things I loved about my trip to Stockholm last Summer was discovering one of my favorite fragrances to date—Pulp by the Swedish brand Byredo. My fascination started when I walked into the lobby of the Nobis Hotel which was infused by scented candles from this wonderful brand. Ever since I returned from my trip, I've noticed how popular Byredo has become in the fashion world, all thanks to the vision, passion and design sensibility of former professional basketball player Ben Gorham. Today, to my delight, I share with you his very Scandinavian home in Stockholm. His eclectic flat is a combination of new acquisitions mixed with old classics from the 1950s—particularly his collection of chandeliers. If you want to dig in more into Ben's wonderful style, you can do so in this great The New York Times Magazine article. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
