THE ART OF DISASSEMBLING

Who says dismantling old household objects can't be an artform? For Canadian photographer Todd Mcllellan, this has become the inspiration for his latest project he calls “Disassembly”. He has taken apart vintage artifacts like a wind-up clock, an old camera, a flip clock and even an old-fashioned push lawn mower and arranged every single component into these intricate compositions. They are quite beautiful and I'm sure it took him lot of patience and dedication to create this captivating series.

THROUGH THE LENSE OF: HEIDE LERKENFELDT

Let's be inspired today by the beautiful work of the truly talented Danish photographer Heide Lerkenfeldt. I'm so into her delightful compositions and sense of serenity she captures in every frame. Her versatility as a photographer is amazing. Not only does she shoot amazing spaces and products, but she also does a masterful job with fashion, food and people. But don't take my word for it. Please, go browse through her portfolio and see for yourself. You will love her work as much as I do.

INNER BEAUTY

Today, I thought I would take a small detour from the road of fabulous interiors to share with you these phenomenal and unique X-ray photographic prints by English artist Nick Veasey. Through his art, Nick likes “to counter the obsession with superficial appearance [we all seem to have] using X-rays to strip back the layers and show what is like under the surface.” The themes of his collections vary: from plant life, insects, fashion, toys, animals to aquatic life, man and machine. I'm simply in awe of his creativity and the beautiful imagery he captures using this technology. You can see more of his incredible work in his website and in this Limited Editions Catalogue.

AN EYE FOR INTERIORS

Her passion for photography and design is what inspired Dutch photographer Marjon Hoogervorst to shoot amazing spaces. Ever since she was young, Marjon spent time photographing her room with all her hand-crafted creations. To no surprise, she has become a stellar artist capturing the essence and soul of people's homes, like this stunning Amsterdam apartment. “The places where people live tell a lot about them. That's what inspires me—that's what I like to photograph most,” she says. I encourage you to take a few minutes to browse through her beautiful portfolio here. Enjoy it!

MY DESIGN ADDICTION

I never get tired of gushing over impeccable Scandinavian interiors. You know, I sort of have a weakness for this style. There's something so sexy about it that it's rather addictive. It's unreal how all these homes have flawless white floors—I guess it's almost part of their DNA. This particular flat, photographed by Copenhagen-based photographer , is home to Britt Marie Hørsted which he shares with his girlfriend and kid. The place is filled with great pieces of furniture, art and loads of personal touches. I'm totally crazy about the amazing batch of mid-century chairs they have all over. They almost become sculptural pieces in every room.

DELICIOUS PANTONE

If you have a sweet tooth like me and an adoration for beautiful photography, you're going to fall head over heels in love with these delicious Pantone Tarts by French artistic director Emilie de Morello. Her passion for food, color and photography inspired her to create Griottes, an amazing blog where she shares her recipes and other things from around the kitchen with the most original and creative images. As we all know, the first thing that attracts us to food is the way it looks and is presented, and Emily truly masters this special craft. I absolutely enjoyed browsing through her amazing work, and I'm positive you will too.

An Australian Twist

Today you're in for a treat as the fourth issue of EST magazine is out. In case you're not familiar with this gorgeous webazine, it comes from our friends Down Under. EST is relaxed and stylish, is not self conscious and it does not take itself too seriously. Its editors describe it as loving the sun but also appreciating the seasons. It loves looking to the past but also likes shiny and new - this is what gives EST a fun Aussie twist. This edition is dedicated to Scandinavian design, which you know I have a major crush on. So sit back, enjoy and get ready to be inspired by all the eye candy that pops from its pages. Also, remember to enter this week's giveaway here to have chance to win a chic and trendy leather iPad case.
