INTERIOR TONIC

I'm glad it's Friday! I know I shouldn't complaint since it was quite a short work week, but I guess some of us are still having the Holiday blues. So what better to lift the spirit than a couple of tablespoons interior tonic? Honestly? So sit back, relax and enjoy these fanstamical images from the portoflio of Australian photographer Toby Scott. I love his work. Happy weekend!

A HOLIDAY SHOPPING STORY

With only four days left until Christmas, most likely people will spend this weekend running around in a craze trying to get their last minute shopping done. So in that spirit I thought I'd post this fun and witty series of vignettes shot by the always talented and creative Carl Kleiner. Created for Stockholm's Arlanda International Airport shopping area, the Christmas campaign is incredibly clever. I'm telling you, this guy never stops to amaze me. Happy weekend!

A SENSE OF TIMELESSNESS

How would you like to take a day trip to Copenhagen today? Come on, let's go and swing by the beautiful home of accessories designer Yvonne Koné for a quick tour. As a designer, Yvonne is attracted to craftsmanship and to a simple, almost primitive sense of aesthetics—traits she easily translated into the fine mix of old and new in her decor. “People often ask me what inspires me. I find it hard to define. I know for sure that the used, industrial, raw and the metallic look, is very compelling to me and a consistent theme in my collections,” she explains. I'm feeling a sense of timelessness by looking at this gorgeous pictures by Line Klein, particularly by the calm and mininalist approach Yvonne used to decorate such a stunner.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE

Yesterday I woke up to the best of emails: Paperblog, a selective blog curator, had chosen yours truly as the 'Blogger of the Day'—SWEEEET! (A zillion thanks to Paperblog for this wonderful honor). I was so delighted by the news that I started doing the happy dance. Well, not quite, but I was certainly walking on air. So to share a dose of my joy with you, how about these gorgeous pictures I found by the über talented photographer Petra Bindel? This is part of her latest work she did for the Danish furniture and home decor company MUUTO (inspired by the Finnish word ‘muutos’ which means new perspective). How beautiful is their new line and soft color palette? Love!

INSTANT GRATIFICATION

I don't know if you're into Instagram, but if not, you're missing out on something really fantastic. I'm sort of addicted to the instant gratification by other people's quirky images and also by sharing with others all the cool and inspiring stuff that catch my eye. Last weekend, I took a mini break from the city and drove up to Provincetown, a charming New England town located at the extreme tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I spent four glorious days of simply doing nothing but catching up on necessary rest, eating delicious food and partaking in a few cocktails. Besides chilling, I made good with my Instagram followers since it had been a while that I shared any snapshots with them. Here are some of the beautiful things that captivated me while roaming through the enchanting  streets of Ptown. If you don't already follow me in Instagram, you can find me under @TheDesignerPad to start getting your daily design fix. Enjoy!

INGENIOUS SHADES

Today, I thought I'd give you a short break from beautiful interiors and wow you with these phenomenally witty, sculptural images by Stockholm-based photographer Philip Karlberg. An idea that started a few months back materialized in this crazy fun project for shelter publication Plaza Magazine. Overall, it took him six days and about 1,200 wooden sticks to recreate six ingenious portraits of some classic sunglasses wearers like Johnny Depp, Jackie O, Karl Lagerfeld, Lady Gaga, John Belushi and Steve McQueen (from top to bottom). Aren't they amazing? Bravo to Philip for his patience and imagination.

CREATIVE MINDS THINK ALIKE

There's nothing that will keep creative minds from creating, especially when talented ones join forces—like German product designers Eva Marguerre and Marcel Besau, who teamed up to create Studio Besau Marguerre. Besides product design, their services range from interiors design to visual communication and branding. I'm glad I came across their site–it's a wonderful source of inspiration and eye candy. Take for instance this DIY project they worked on for Brigitte magazine. It's overly clever how they came up with these beautiful vignettes of chairs that have been refurbished together with the materials used for the transformation. Plus each of the chairs turned out simply gorgeous and give you some unique ideas to try on your own... right? If you have a few minutes and want to enjoy some of the behind-the-scenes happenings of the shoot, click here.
