Growing your ABCs

No garden will fall short of looking amazing with one of these giant three-dimensional letters created by Jimmy Fiction Esq. in Deptford, South East London. The monumental alphabet, including numbers and symbols, is free-standing and can be used as outdoor decoration or as a whimsical trellis for your seasonal vines.

You've Got Mail

I love how form and function come together in this amazingly adorable mailbox conceived by Spanish designer Marcial Ahsayane. His Brussel-based design house, Ahsayane Studio, is all about creating solutions through provocative and innovative designs. That's exactly what he did with the Green Mailbox, which not only holds your daily mail, but also houses a small potted plant. Its slanted top guides rain water directly into the plant to keep it nice and green. What a cute idea. Have a designful Friday!

Up In The Air

I love coming across things that revive wonderful childhood memories and experiences. When I was around 8, I remember using the shed in our backyard as a hideaway and a pretend treehouse where I spent hours playing with my friends. So when I saw this wonderful treehouse, by German company Baumraum, flashes from the past came to mind. The company is dedicated to creating wonderful aerial dwellings among trees where one can play, work, relax, escape to or simply daydream. The King of the Frogs, as they named this particular one, hovers above a reflecting pond in a small private garden in Münster, Germany.

Living Typography

This fun alphabet is meant to be used to tell many stories. Besides serving as shelter for our feathery friends, these kooky letters and numbers can be hung anywhere outside your home as a nameplate or even as house numbers.“Living Typography” is the crafty work of designer Nishant Jethi, who reproduces all 26 letters of the alphabet and the numbers 0 to 9 in hollow wooden shapes, becoming funky bird houses. What a super duper idea!

Mid Century Birds

Having birds around your garden is one of the charms of summer. So invite them to hang out in these mid century-inspired modern birdhouses. Although not a pure replica of the original case study modern birdhouses, these interpretations by Burdhaus are quite alluring and colorful modern shelters for our fine, feathered friends.

Paradise Found

Did you miss me? I certainly missed you. But after eight days of relaxation and living the island life, I'm back in town all rested and recharged. I don't mean to brag, but it was a splendid week filled with sunny days, delicious Mexican food and amazingly friendly people. Isla Mujeres lived up to my expectations and then some. It is quite a charming place I highly recommend to anybody who's looking to get away and enjoy nature at its best. There were plenty of adventures to keep us busy and our minds stimulated with all the breathtaking experiences the island has to offer. Between traveling mainland to see phenomenal Mayan ruins, going underground into the spectacular cenotes and snorkeling around the island's coral reef, the week went by really fast and left me wanting more.
