A NEW RESOLUTION

At the beginning of every new year we challenge ourselves to lead a better, healthier and more fruitful life by coming up with a list of resolutions to keep us in track. Mine are often the same: exercise more, eat a sensible diet and be nicer to the planet. However, this year I added living a clutter-free life by pairing down on unnecessary stuff around the house and keeping it simple. To sort of inspire myself to do that, I felt these gorgeous images by the talented photographer Trevor Tondro were great inspiration to have around. I love their striking simplicity and how beautifully arranged each one of them is. How about you? Do you have any resolutions fo this year?

LAUNDERING IN STYLE

When living in New York City, having a washer and dryer at home is quite a rare commodity— in most cases because of the lack of square footage. That's why plenty of New Yorkers take their dirty laundry literally somewhere else. For us, owning a good and sturdy laundry bag is a bare necessity. After having gone through a number of them, I found and immediately purchased a couple of these fun laundry bags by Izola. Inspired by vintage naval aesthetics, they're constructed from a heavy-duty cotton/poly canvas and are large enough to manage heavy loads. The reinforced stitched handle and adjustable shoulder strap allow for easy handling to the laundry room or cleaners—doubling their function as a perfect gym bag or everyday duffle bag. The thick rope laced through reinforced brass rings at the top of each bag keeps your clothes bundled tight to avoid losing any or your prized possessions. Let's face it, these stylish laundry bags might be the perfect motivator to get you to do that pile of laundry that you've been procrastinating about. Happy weekend!

COLORFULLY ORGANIZED

Organization has always been my weakness, well more like my obsession. That's why when I saw these neatly arranged kitchen drawers I felt in heaven. Undoubtedly, these are drawers for any design lover. The color-coordinated drawers display utensils from Normann Copenhagen's Fall line of kitchen gadgets, known for their great balance between form and function. I've always been a huge fan of their products, more so after visiting their flagship store in Copenhagen—it was like walking into a design paradise.

THE ART OF DISASSEMBLING

Who says dismantling old household objects can't be an artform? For Canadian photographer Todd Mcllellan, this has become the inspiration for his latest project he calls “Disassembly”. He has taken apart vintage artifacts like a wind-up clock, an old camera, a flip clock and even an old-fashioned push lawn mower and arranged every single component into these intricate compositions. They are quite beautiful and I'm sure it took him lot of patience and dedication to create this captivating series.

COLOR CODED

Talk about organization. These super neat (not pun intended) compositions are making the neat freak in me want to come out this weekend to rearrange my desktop and all my drawers. Putting these color-coded still lifes together must have been a blast for Swedish Design Studio Kontor Kontur. They really paid attention to details and gathered a fun range of trinkets and gadgets that make the vignettes very amusing. As a matter of fact, they made them into postcards that you can buy in their online shop. Happy weekend to all and don't forget to enter our giveway here.
