A PASSIONATE DECOR

His profound passion for architecture, music and fashion has evidently been an influence in Danish fashion designer David Andersen's home. His slick yet rustic pad is filled with amazing show-stopping pieces, like the fab African antelope taxidermy above the fireplace and the stunning tripod floor lamp in the living room. They add a bit of raw and industrial vibe to the minimalist home. Although David's palette of choice for the decor is mostly black and white (a man after my own heat), a subtle sprinkle of hot pink made its way on to the legs of the dining room table—a fun touch of adding an element of surprise. Double sigh!!

A KNACK FOR LIGHTING

I'm totally having a crush on these gorgeous lamps designed and handcrafted by artist and woodworker Ryden Rizzo. His lighting fixtures, sold at Allied Maker, are beautifully made by him in his Sea Cliff, NY studio. I personally love their simple yet elegant design and the perfectly balanced proportion between wood and metal. To me they're almost pieces of art. Happy weekend!

WHITE NIGHTS

A 17h century mansion in the historic center of Maastricht, the Netherlands, was transformed into this beautifully chic design hotel. The Zenden Hotel offers four different rooms and studios, all decorated in the most minimalist style where white dominates each space. The decor, although spare, includes pieces from Vitra with bathroom fixtures from Alessi. The clean and basic feel of the interiors play a strong contrast to the building's historic and ornate architecture of the city's architecture.

SUMMER WHITES

It took five years of meticulous renovating to transform a former 1920s schoolhouse into this magnificent Summer home in southern Sweden. The refurbished house has a timeless decor with an unmistakably personal touch. White walls reflect the shifting daylight that pours through the oversized floor-to-ceiling windows — perfect to contemplate the breathtaking views and roaming deer.

IT'S ALL IN THE STAGING

Model apartments tend to be cold and impersonal, which in a sense in quite the opposite look you want to have when trying to attract prospect buyers or renters. If staged right, and with enough attention paid to details, they should feel homey and inviting — the whole purpose of investing time and money to decorate them. Believe it or not, this lovely Stockholm flat is a model unit for a brand new apartment complex designed by Wingårdhs Architects for the developers Folkhem. The beautiful choice of furnishings and color palette makes this pad rather attractive to any possible homeowner or tenant. The wood details and lovely accessories gives it a lived-in feel which will entice anyone to want to live here. I can definitely fall for it.

MINIMALISM WITH A FRENCH TWIST

Mixing design styles is not often an easy task, especially when talking about two very different styles such as Nordic minimalism and Southern French. But this lovely home in Vence, France hosts these two distinct decorative approaches rather beautifully. The warmth of the wood furnishings are perfect complements to the simpler lines of the Mid-century pieces that bring the Scandinavian undertones into the fold— while unexpected bursts of bright colors introduce the element of surprise to this fusion of styles.

DESIGNING OUT OF THE BOX

The daring use of color in this restored Victorian home in Melbourne, Australia is simply to die. Architects Nick Travers and Justin Northrop from the architecture studio Techne, strategically used just the right pops of color to create a harmonious flow from room to room. Every space in the home is stunning. The playfulness in which the vivid hues were applied is brilliant, particularly against the elegant white canvas of the rooms. I give the creative duo two thumbs up for designing out the box and having fun while doing it. Happy weekend!

CONTRAST IN PLAY

There's nothing pretentious about this Swedish farmhouse. The renovation by Jonas Labbé and Johannes Schotanus of LASC Studio is all about experience and simplicity. I do love everything about this Summer retreat, but the stark contrast of the black and white exterior to the bold use of orange and turquoise in the interiors is absolutely clever.
