DANISH HOSPITALITY

It's no secret that Danes have an exquisite taste in design, and that their hotels are no exception to this rule. The recently opened Hotel SP34 is one of the newest additions to the impressive line up of design hotels in Copenhagen. The hotel, formerly known as Hotel Fox, was completely revamped by architect/designer Morten Hedegaard into a chic 118-room boutique hotel. Designed with the staple Nordic aesthetic, the hotel is decorated in a soothing grey and white palette with deliciously warm details in wood and leather. No doubt Hotel SP34 should be on the top of anyone's list traveling to the Danish capital any time soon.

A GENDER NEUTRAL LOFT

I can't get enough of the beautifully serene color palette of this 1860 loft in SoHo, New York . Its soft neutral colors flow from room to room creating a harmonious and soothing ambiance. The whole renovation and design story was conceived by British interior design firm Ochre, known for their exquisite attention to proportions, use of luxurious materials and matchless craftsmanship. One might relate these soft hues with feminine interiors, but by mixing in metal, wood and clean-line pieces they made it a gender neutral home. It is absolutely to dye for!

MINIMALISM THAT WORKS

Minimalism has always gotten a bad reputation especially for family living. Is thought not to be kid-friendly or even practical. But this amazing open-plan home has proven the critics wrong. This family of four manages to live comfortably with kids n a wide-open space where clutter is not part of their modus operandi. With clever room layout solutions and plenty of creativity, they've created a home to envy—a true testament that simplicity reigns!

MOROCCAN REVIVAL

I love mixing decorative styles in my designs, it makes things a bit more interesting and a better design overall. Although it can be at times tricky, two completely opposite styles can merge beautifully in a room. This past weekend I came across this stunning riad in Marrakech and it simply blew my mind. With the help of French designer Romain Michel-Ménière, a British expat transformed an old home into a serene and stylish oasis for her and her mother. By seamlessly blending the traditional Moroccan architectural features from the house with a more modern and minimalist look, they were able to update the house and create a dreamy place to call home in their adoptive new city.

A FLOATING PLACE TO STAY

If you're looking for a unique lodging experience the Modern Houseboat in Berlin is a rather spectacular option. With floor-to-ceiling windows, this two bedroom floating house hosts up to four guests — offering them breathtaking views of the German capital's Spree river. Minutes away from the center of town, this stylish house is the perfect place to kick back while visiting this vibrant city.

LIVING SMALL BUT IN STYLE

With mere 226 square feet of space, this tiny Madrid apartment has stretched its diminutive size to the max. The narrow 100m3 apartment was designed by Studio MYCC, who maximized every single inch available. They were able to ”accommodate several pieces, which are limited in volume but at the same time all are visually connected to each other. Even the bathroom is within sight.” Its simple and spare decor also helps to visually enlarge this urban shelter. It's amazing what they did.

A PASSIONATE DECOR

His profound passion for architecture, music and fashion has evidently been an influence in Danish fashion designer David Andersen's home. His slick yet rustic pad is filled with amazing show-stopping pieces, like the fab African antelope taxidermy above the fireplace and the stunning tripod floor lamp in the living room. They add a bit of raw and industrial vibe to the minimalist home. Although David's palette of choice for the decor is mostly black and white (a man after my own heat), a subtle sprinkle of hot pink made its way on to the legs of the dining room table—a fun touch of adding an element of surprise. Double sigh!!

A KNACK FOR LIGHTING

I'm totally having a crush on these gorgeous lamps designed and handcrafted by artist and woodworker Ryden Rizzo. His lighting fixtures, sold at Allied Maker, are beautifully made by him in his Sea Cliff, NY studio. I personally love their simple yet elegant design and the perfectly balanced proportion between wood and metal. To me they're almost pieces of art. Happy weekend!
