A NORDIC VIBE

This optimally planned apartment in popular Vasastan, Stockholm is a ray of sunshine. The 670 square-feet pad is quite bright and airy with a decor on point with that dreamy Nordic vibe. Overall, the place shows off a minimalist yet soothing style with obvious touches of personal charm. Despite the serene look, each room says a lot about its owners without trying too hard. You can tell every single piece they used was carefully selected and placed. I particularly love how the richness of the wood furniture glows and brings warmth to the soft color palette.

SPANISH SPLENDOR

Please, come right in and take a tour of this stunning Madrid penthouse. An impressive semi-circular wall of floor-to-ceiling windows frames the modish living room decorated with mid-century modern treasures. This Spanish pad combines color and art seamlessly—by no means the owner of this sweet apartment is intimidated by color. She really has outdone herself by spontaneously using bright and saturated tones to unify the decor of this top-floor haven.

TRÈS COOL

“Your home defines who you are, and who you want to be,” proclaims fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. And I second that way of thinking. Through decor and artwork you can easily infuse your personality and style in your home. This Parisian flat is no exception to the rule. It's the striking artwork by young artists that provides a perfect framework for this eclectic home in the French capital. An open floor plan houses the kitchen, the dining room and lounge area, all surrounded by bold and fun pieces of art that most certainly make a statement about the owners. I truly belief artwork should reflect your spirit and not just something to fill your walls with. You honestly can do it without breaking the bank. All you need is a little imagination.

SIMPLE BLISS

Light, air and space are the main ingredients in the home of Danish interior designer Tina Offshore Wind. The result is this fresh and sun-drenched first floor apartment in a villa north of Copenhagen, which she shares with her husband, son and adorable pet rabbit Thumper. There is a simple aesthetic comfort to it that I simply love, particularly the subdued color palette that's very representative of her design style: earth tones, gray, white rose with wooden touches. And for course, her selective use of furniture is perfect. Everything is carefully selected and placed so that each piece of furniture has enough breathing room around it, creating a very relaxing ambiance.

LIGHT AND MODERN

Here we go again. Another week starts and I'm all pumped up to continue working on a project that's almost completed and start planning for a new home office I'm about start. But before I get too busy with my to-do list, I want to share with you this gorg home in Houston, Texas. Right in the middle of the city's artsy district, and only minutes away from the Museum of Contemporary Art, the modern abode is drenched in natural light and exquisite sophistication. With a balanced mix of new and vintage pieces, the decor is right up my alley. And to reflect the spirit of the neighborhood, the owners have proudly displayed their small art collection in strategic places in every room. Isn't it sensational?

TRADITIONAL MODERNITY

Originally an oil mill from the 1700's, this breathtaking house is home to architect Durval Dias Junior. It was its typical rural architecture that made him fall in love with the abandoned structure and inspired him to renovate it into this beautiful refuge he now calls home in Mallorca, Spain. At the time of decorating it, Dias decided to go modern to contrast the elegant architectural austerity. He combined new clean-lined pieces of furniture with vintage industrial touches, always with discretion and comfort in mind. The use of a soothing palette of natural colors (white, black and earth tones)‚ essential materials (wood, stone and iron) and ancestral resources such as concrete, unifies all the rooms. Without a doubt, this is another case when tradition and modernity go hand in hand in perfect harmony.

PICTURE PERFECT

This fine pad is a shining example that bringing your work home can be a good thing. For interior stylist Joanna Lavéncreating a sensitive mix of internet furniture bargains from Ebay with fun decorative arts is her thing. Being fond of the 1950s style and attracted by slick shapes, she creates beautiful environments both at work and at her central Stockholm home. Her secret for a picture-perfect room: keep them simple and clutter-free, and try to keep cables neatly organized and out of sight when possible. A gal after my own heart!

A STRIKING HABITAT

A casual and exclusive environment surrounded by black, white and gray welcomes guests everyday at the hip Hotel Habita in Monterrey, Mexico. Behind the minimalist, concrete front desk visitors can admire a wall mosaic made of hand-made mirrored tiles brought from India. Every single space in the hotel is sleek, dramatic and filled with timeless classics like Swan Chairs by Arne Jacobsen and furniture from avant-garde designer Rick Owens. The hyper-modern interiors were created by Parisian design extraordinaire Joseph Dirand, the creative mind behind the stupendous Hotel Distrito Capital in Mexico City—which I featured here not long ago. This one is most definitely going on my list of favorite boutique hotels.
