There is a growing trend in kitchen design ruled by minimalism and innovative storage solutions. Unlike classic kitchens, the modern versions usually do without top cabinets or simply replace them for some sort of open-shelf unit. This serene kitchen, designed by Danish company Kobenhavns Mobelsnedkeri, is a gorgeous example of this trend. I do love the idea of a simpler kitchen, although I know it's not optimal when space is an issue. Are you loving the trend, or not so much? Have a phenomenal weekend!
To celebrate this day of love and friendship I thought this sweet wooden board in the shape of a heart by Orphan Socks would be the right treat for the occasion. I hope you have a love-filled day in the company of your sweetheart and closest friends. Happy Valentine's Day and a fantastic weekend!
When it comes to renovating a kitchen, IKEA, in my humble opinion, is by far your best bet. Ever since I started my love affair with IKEA, I've designed all my kitchens (and even those of my clients) with their fabulous METOD cabinets. They're great fun to design with and truly not very hard to install. But the talent of IKEA never seizes to amaze me. I'm beyond excited they're expanding their already fantastic kitchen system by introducing METOD — a brand new line which is simply to die for. With new cabinet sizes, different door choices and accessories, METOD gives you endless possibilities to design the stylish kitchen you've always wanted. What I love most about this new kitchen line is it's versatility and sleek features. I can't wait to see it in person.
Whether or not you're into the whole shabby chic approach, this sweet Scandinavian country kitchen might win you over. Every single nook is full of charm and history. This kind of decor calls for a mix and match of pieces with signs of wear and tear, and this lovely eat-in kitchen is a beautiful example of this design style done right. Amazing flea market treasures, family heirlooms and wonderful finds from a nearby barn is what makes it so special. I'm sold! How about you?
There's nothing like having a spacious and cozy kitchen that will motivate you to cook delicious meals for the family. That's what London-based photographer Aby Campbell was aiming for when she renovated her newly-bought house. To achieve the warmth she was looking for, Aby took inspiration from the time she spent in upstate New York and used panelling on the walls and ceiling of the kitchen—a sure way to add character to any room. I love the fact tha she did without wall cabinets, a smart move on her part to make the room feel larger. There isn't a thing I don't like about this space. Every single nook in this kitchen screams good taste, plus her attention to detail is beyond amazing.
It's often impossible finding a swanky trash can worth displaying in the kitchen, but this trash bin / laundry basket hybrid can proudly sit in my kitchen anytime. Muuto’s new Hideaway bins, by Finnish designer Mika Tolvanen, neatly hides your trash or laundry in style. It's functional and streamlined design conceals the trash bag within when the basket is closed to avoid any unsightly messes, and when open the lid can practically hang on the side of the bin. Hmm, I think I'll add this beauty to my long wish list. Happy weekend!
