NOT JUST FOR DOLLS

How thrilled would any kid be with this adorable doll house that also doubles as a coffee table? Both, little ones and grown ups can enjoy the beautiful design of the Qubis Haus. Sliding panels with windows and doors already engraved on them are used to create the various rooms in the house. But that's not all. You can also turn this table/house into a multi media center by sliding your iPad into the grooves for you and your kids to watch and play. Most definitely, it's a genius gift for a modern family or just for those that love cool designs.

LESS IS MORE

Inspired by the classic Scandinavian style, OYOY is one of my favorite Danish decor companies. Primary designer Lotte Fynboe uses graphic shapes, color and exquisite materials superbly to create high-quality home accessories. Focussing on form and function, Lotte adds undertones of simple, Japanese design with her passion for combining colors and materials. Her “less is more” approach helps her conceive a unique blend of clean and functional design. Here are a few drool-worthy photos from their latest collection. I'm sure you'll want everything in it just as much as I do.

KIDDING AROUND

A few weeks back a received a very delightful phone call from one of my dearest nieces (and avid reader of TheDesignerPad) to let me know she's was expecting. Believe me, I was thrilled beyond belief to hear the great news. Ever since, she's been begging me to dedicate one of my posts to kids rooms so she could draw some inspiration for the baby's nursery. Since she doesn't want to know the sex of the baby, it might be harder for her to decide on a concept, color palette and look. But I know these fun and beautiful rooms I found in Scandinavian Deko magazine will give her some sweet ideas to start decorating her little one's nest. I know it has taken me a while Keke, but I finally got around to doing it. Enjoy and happy baby decorating! xo

PLAYING WITH GRAVITY

How crazy cool is this? This gravity-defying desk is what greets the customers at the reception area of the Dublin design agency Boys and Girls. The tabletop is carefully balanced with giant Jenga blocks and real helium balloons. How did they do it? Who knows, but it does look amazingly fun. The idea came after their reception area was described in a magazine article as “small and routine”, giving the creative partner of the agency enough courage to come up with this genious piece of furniture.

MY GUILTY PLEASURE

I don't know about you, but Downton Abbey is of my favorite TV shows of all times, to the point that it's become my new guilty pleasure. I can't wait for Sunday nights to come to see what the new episode will bring. Unfortunately, tomorrow's episode is the second season finale (nooooooooo!!!), so who knows how long we'll have to wait for season three to come around. I'm telling you, this show is addictive. It has everybody talking about it so much that it has become the water cooler topic of the month. It's soooo good that it reminds me of the telelenovelas I used to watch back home when I was kid. But thanks to Kyle Hilton, these four sets of Downton Abbey paper dolls will keep us entertained until the next season starts. Aren't they hilarious?
