AN IDEAL MARRIAGE

Born out of the partnership between the famed Danish design house Fritz Hansen and Italian firm Spotti, the first Republic of Fritz Hansen showroom opens its doors in MIlan. This magnificent space combines the best of both of both worlds—classic Nordic style and Milanese tradition—creating a fresh new look. Undoubtedly, the limited edition pieces and site-specific installations ultimately make the store a unique place to visit. Is anyone game for a trip to Milan? This might be worth a visit. Happy weekend!

INSPIRATION GALORE

Most Sundays, all I want to do is lounge and do pretty much nothing. And that's exactly what I plan to do today, except I will also be enjoying the new online issue of Est Magazine. The magazine is filled with the best in Australian and international design, interiors, fashion, luxury goods, travel and lifestyle. But this particular issue they've dedicated to The Art of Simple Living—my favorite subject. So if you have no plans for today, I encourage you to sit back with your tablet on hand and browse through the gorg pages of Est. Enjoy!

CAMPY AND FRESH

I know it's too soon to be thinking about beach weather, but I guess it's my wishful thinking that inspired me to feature this fun collection of outdoor furniture by Colonel. I love every piece in the collection but I'm particularly taken by the new Caracas chair—a fresh and contemporary version of the 60's camping chair. Besides looking comfy and inviting, the chair holds a special place in my heart because it shares the name of my birth city. (I thought you'd enjoy that bit of trivia). Happy weekend!

BABY LOVE

Nope, don't get any funny ideas. I'm not in the market for a baby chair or baby anything for that matter. But saw this beauty while browsing the net and thought it deserved to be featured here today. It looks very futuristic, but believe it or not the Baby Chair 616 was designed back in 1965 by Ben af Schultén for Finnish company Artek. Hmmm, don't you wish you were a baby again to enjoy this fine piece of furniture?

FROM FARM TO FAB

Today's eye candy comes in a delicious package all the way from one of the most picturesque villages in Mallorca, Spain. La Finca is a 13th-century farm that has been renovated into a gorgeous private vacation home with an eclectic decor that borders between rustic and modern sophistication. Its black, gray and white palette plays an important role in keeping the balance between these two styles. I love the fact that they painted the silhouette of an armoire around the built-in wooden cabinets in the living room to create the whimsical illusion of a larger piece of furniture. They also played the same cool trick in one of the bedrooms with the headboard. It's touches like these that add the element of surprise and ingenuity to a room and that make all the difference in making it special.

A DREAMY NEST

I just came back from a wonderful long weekend in upstate New York celebrating Thanksgiving. It really was a terrific and relaxing getaway full of great food and special moments in the company of loved ones. Every time we spend time in the countryside we crave more and more having our own country nest. We tend to explore the small towns in the area and enjoy discovering all their fun shops. However, we can't help paying a visit to a handful of home decor and lifestyle store that we simply love. One of them is Nest located in the beautiful Delaware River community of Narrowsburg, New York. Splendidly curated by Brazilian native and owner, Anna Bern (former art director for W and design director for Vogue magazine), Nest is a dreamy haven filled with country contemporary products ranging from bed and bath, decor, furniture, clothing, accessories and jewelry. Everything in it is right up my alley, particularly the eclectic mix of furnishings I always envision in my dream country home.

SIT DOWN WITH NOBODY

Danish design company Hay never stops to amaze me. I fell in love with their furniture and accessory collection when I visited their flagship store in Copenhagen, and now I'm crushing on Nobody—an industrially produced chair made strictly from textile. The chair is molded in one piece and in one single process, resulting in a light weight and stackable chair meeting modern demands of sustainability in both materials and production. Its design is inspired by a piece of cloth used over a chair to protect it. Using a technique borrowed from the car industry, the Nobody chair is manufactured from a 100 % recyclable material made from used water and soda bottles. Amazingly, the production process neither requires an internal frame, plastic, screws, glue or any other type of reinforcements. I'm a big fan of this chair's modish vibe and the powerful statement it can make in a room.
