FIRE ME UP!

I'm so ready for Fall to finally kick in. It seems like Summer doesn't want to let go here as we've been having rather unseasonably warm days here in the Northeast. I so can imagine myself cozying up next to this Fire Basket and enjoying a nice cup of joe on a crisp Fall night. The mobile fireplace is the newest member of Menu's outdoor collection by Norm Architects. I so want one now.

DANISH DESIGN TO LOVE

I can already feel the crisp air of Fall in the mornings and the bright Summer sunlight has started to transition into a softer and more subdued color palette. And with it the Autumn/Winter 2013 home collections have begun to show up in stores and online. One of my favorites this year is from the Danish house Ferm Living. Their collections is a bit edgier than in the past with materials such as brass, wood, leather and marble in the mix. Ferm Living's iconic geometric shapes still play an important role for Fall and Winter but with a few new surprises that you will love. These are some of my favorite pieces from their catalogue, but there are plenty more to drool about in their look book. Trust me, it's worth browsing through just for their gorgeous vignettes. Enjoy!

COZY AND WOOLLY

There's nothing like an area rug to add personality to a home. Sometimes it even becomes the point of departure when decorating a room. Besides making a visual statement in a space, rugs are great for defining specific areas in a layout. If you’re looking for practicality as well as beauty a wool rug is your best bet—it's gorgeously soft and rather durable. Being a luxurious fibre, wool brings extra comfort and warmth to your abode. Its durability makes wool rugs ideal for areas that see a lot of foot traffic. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, textures and plies. But patterned carpets are less likely to show dirt and are more forgiving on busy areas like family rooms, dining room, halls, stairs and landings. Since wool is a recyclable and naturally flame-resistant fibre, wool rugs are a smart choice if you want to help the environment. Besides being a valuable investment that will serve you for many years to come, wool rugs are the epitome of practicality and style.

FOR THE SOFTER SIDE OF WINTER

I know it's a bit premature to be posting about Fall when we still about a month and a half left of Summer. But I simply couldn't resist sharing the upcoming collection from the Danish home decor brand Bloomingville. Their Autumn/Winter collection is a beautiful mix of metallics, wood, wool and beautiful patterns. Soft pinks, lavender, peach and grays dominate their new lookbook: a rather unexpected palette for the wintry season—but one that will definitely brighten up your decor on those long and chilly days. I encourage you to browse through their online catalogue here. It's to die for.

LET IT SNOW

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we've no place to go, let it snow, let it snow let it snow... And isn't that the perfect time to enjoy a delish cup of mulled cider lounging by the fireside? I'd say so. From sleek to traditional, every single one of these cozy fireplaces add a warming glow to these beautiful rooms. If I could only have one in my pad.

A TOASTY SEASON

Temperatures are starting to plunge in New York, quite soon for early November. Looking at how crazy and unpredictable the weather has been around here in the last couple of weeks, I have a gut feeling this Winter is going to be colder than usual. That's why I was so excited to find Toast's Autumn/Winter catalogue. Their new collection is chuck-full of fabby decor, bedding and accessories to make the home all cozy and comfy. These delicious snaps are just wonderful and just what I needed to start warming up. Here are some of my favorite picks from their online shop. Happy weekend!

HOOKED ON HOOKS

I have a thing for hooks and always get über excited when I come across new designs that go beyond the expected. I love the simplicity of this modular version conceived by German industrial designer Sarah Böttger in collaboration with Meike Langer. The H2 hooks are made of a synthetic material and can be connected to create a fabulous sculptural rack for the foyer or bathroom. Even when not being used, the grouping will become a fun decorative piece for your wall. Fun!
