LET IT SNOW

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we've no place to go, let it snow, let it snow let it snow... And isn't that the perfect time to enjoy a delish cup of mulled cider lounging by the fireside? I'd say so. From sleek to traditional, every single one of these cozy fireplaces add a warming glow to these beautiful rooms. If I could only have one in my pad.

A TOASTY SEASON

Temperatures are starting to plunge in New York, quite soon for early November. Looking at how crazy and unpredictable the weather has been around here in the last couple of weeks, I have a gut feeling this Winter is going to be colder than usual. That's why I was so excited to find Toast's Autumn/Winter catalogue. Their new collection is chuck-full of fabby decor, bedding and accessories to make the home all cozy and comfy. These delicious snaps are just wonderful and just what I needed to start warming up. Here are some of my favorite picks from their online shop. Happy weekend!

HOOKED ON HOOKS

I have a thing for hooks and always get über excited when I come across new designs that go beyond the expected. I love the simplicity of this modular version conceived by German industrial designer Sarah Böttger in collaboration with Meike Langer. The H2 hooks are made of a synthetic material and can be connected to create a fabulous sculptural rack for the foyer or bathroom. Even when not being used, the grouping will become a fun decorative piece for your wall. Fun!

FALLING FOR FALL

One of the reasons why I love living in New York is experiencing the changes that every season brings to my life. Although all of them have a special place in my heart, Fall is one of my favorites as it's a time of transition and renewal. It marks the beginning of a new school year and the start of a much anticipated, new TV season. But first and foremost, it gives me an excuse to cozy up my pad to prepare for the long winter days ahead. It's all about rich and comfy textures, warm colors and accessories that make living with chilly temperatures more manageable. With just a few days until its arrival, here are some of my picks to add some spice and style to your nest this Fall. Go to our Facebook page and share with us your favorite decor for this special season.

Hooking Up

We've started feeling the crisp Autumn air in the city, a nice and welcomed change from the humidity that Summer often brings. Even though we're going to have unseasonably warm weather this weekend in New York, it's time to start taking the coats and jackets out of hibernation — which brings me to the reason for this post. It's not easy finding coat rack and hook interpretations that are fun and different, especially when they have to occupy precious real estate on your wall. That's why I'm digging these catchy wooden hooks inspired by the high voltage insulators in electrical conductors. The Thomas Alva Edison Knobs were designed by llot llov, one of Germany's most talked-about design studios. Besides providing a nifty place to hang your winter gear, the knobs become a cool-looking sculpture you can showcase on your wall year round.

TRENDS: Fall Colors 2011

As Fall is right around the corner, the new trends for home decor are sprouting everywhere. Interior designer and TV host Nate Berkus yesterday went on the Today Show to share some of the hot colors that will dictate the mood for our homes this season. For instance, Bronze is the new metallic that we'll be seeing in lots of home accents. A hybrid between navy and black, Navy/black is the perfect neutral to bring life to all colors and looks great with any decor in any season. Surprisingly, two greens made the list. Although close in hues, Jade and Asparagus are both beautiful and calming. Last but but not least, Rust is a timeless color that's most characteristic of Fall and brings warmth to any space. Here you have it. Now it's your turn to start getting your pad in shape to welcome this fabulous time of year.
