DESIGNING OUT OF THE BOX

The daring use of color in this restored Victorian home in Melbourne, Australia is simply to die. Architects Nick Travers and Justin Northrop from the architecture studio Techne, strategically used just the right pops of color to create a harmonious flow from room to room. Every space in the home is stunning. The playfulness in which the vivid hues were applied is brilliant, particularly against the elegant white canvas of the rooms. I give the creative duo two thumbs up for designing out the box and having fun while doing it. Happy weekend!

CONTRAST IN PLAY

There's nothing pretentious about this Swedish farmhouse. The renovation by Jonas Labbé and Johannes Schotanus of LASC Studio is all about experience and simplicity. I do love everything about this Summer retreat, but the stark contrast of the black and white exterior to the bold use of orange and turquoise in the interiors is absolutely clever.

A PALETTE FIT FOR SUMMER

If you're a fan of color, particularly bold and bright ones, then you'll love the fun and cheerful palette used by interior stylist Susanna Vento in these whimsical vignettes. Pretty much any color looks amazing when combined with black and white graphic patterns, like she did here. So if you're in the mood for giving your home a fresh look, here's a dose of inspiration for that Summer makeover.

A FEAST OF COLOR

As you know, it isn't easy combining different colors in any interior, but the designer of this Portuguese home was audacious enough to push the color boundaries beyond the expected. It helped to have a great foundation to make each color shine on its own, but at the same time making them all complement each other beautifully. It is quite the place to brighten up your days.

A SWEET PALETTE

For all the chocoholics out there this one is for you! I just couldn't resist the temptation and had to share this super cool project by Swiss photographer Ramses Schweizer. He concocted Chocotone, a make-shift Pantone color guide using a diverse variety of chocolate bars. He used the letters C for chocolate, N for nuts, H for honey and G for grapes, ultimately completing a sweet palette of 25 delicious tones. Do you have a favorite? Yummm!!

MIXING AT ITS BEST

Tucked away deep into Segovia's dense forest, this lovely country house is the ultimate example of sustainable construction. The living room, with breathtaking countryside views, is a mid-century modern heaven with clever touches of rustic decor. Many of their beautiful treasures come from flea markets, like the cool desk from the 50s under the stairs. But others, believe or not, come from IKEA, like the red floor lamp, red dining chairs and glossy black kitchen cabinets. Talk about knowing how to be resourceful and mixing styles creatively.
