Exposed to breathtaking views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this jewel of a home is the result of the perfect marriage between clever architecture and contemporary art. The villa is located high in the mountains of the Italian island of Capri, which gives it that authentic bright sunlit aura. The whitewashed walls, together with the stone floors, set the perfect scene to enhance the select colorful pieces in the decor. It's evident blue is the color of choice as it's the one hue that's present in every room of the house—perhaps inspired by the alluring deep blue sea that surrounds it. But my favorite feature of all is the impressive stone wall in the shower area that creates a dramatic contrast with the slick design of the bathroom. This is paradise.

Are you mad about color but find yourself doubting how to inject it to your living room? Well, doubt no more. Here's a quick guide from our friends at House to Home that will demystify color for you. If you're in a monochromatic mood, mix textures, patterns and different shades of the color of your choice to add interest to the room. Also, with the large variety of fun wallpapers available to us now, you can pick a feature wall in your living room and use a colorful wall covering to create a focal point. One last but important tip: don't be afraid to be bold as bold can be a good thing. Dare to use combinations of colors you might have never thought of using. I can't think of a place I'd rather be right this minute than in this dreamy and secluded refuge in the middle of the Caribbean. I'm already lounging in that gorgeous bar sipping on a delicious cocktail and ready to catch some rays in this picture-perfect heaven.
La Banane, located in the heart of a spectacular coconut grove in the island of Saint Barts, is the ideal spot to relax and take in every single detail that makes it so special. With a fusion of tropical chic and island sophistication, each corner of the hotel is exquisitely designed. The clever mix of furniture and accessories makes the decor stylish yet cozy. OK, I'm sorry but I have to leave you now so I can keep enjoying my imaginary mini-vacation at this spectacular retreat.

House of Blues

Today, we're taking a day trip to the south of Brazil to visit this stunning flat in the city of Curitiba tastefully designed by Studio Guilherme Torres. This 1,600 square-feet apartment is filled with impeccable details and unique pieces of furniture — some designed by the architect himself. “The base for the decoration was the fusion of polymer cement, minty and blue colors and the use of a whole wall covered in pinus, a wood that has virtually no commercial value in Brazil. Another high point of the project was to expose the structural column right in the entrance door, composing a beautiful set with the dinner table.” Torres' daring choice of textures and materials, combined with the soothing color palette, makes these interiors quite provocative. To keep it interesting, he saved most of the color for the living areas, while using black and white for the decor of the master suite. I'm always blown away by the work that comes out of this remarkable Studio. You might also remember this captivating bachelor pad by this same Studio I posted back in October.

Angulation Interior

Simplicity and understated elegance go hand in hand in this stunning 3,300 square-feet apartment in Kiev, Ukraine. Part of architect and designer Sergey Makhno's impressive interiors portfolio, this flat is a work of art when it comes to its minimalist look. He went for a fairly basic palette of black, gray and tan offset by natural wood. Although simply decorated, each space is accentuated with the right amount of texture and contrast. Black lighting fixtures seem to be the protagonists in most rooms, unifying the feel of the whole place. There are no words to describe the lusciousness of the bathroom: the tile work, the sink, the tub, everything is to die for.

Home Contained

One of the most read and popular posts I've published so far is one about container living. As a matter of fact, it is one of my favorites since it shows how something so raw and unattractive as shipping containers can be transformed into beautiful living spaces. So when I spotted this amazing home I didn't think twice about sharing it with you. This beauty, in Kansas City, Missouri, is actually a prototype conceived and designed by former toy accessory designer Debbie Glassberg in hopes of making container houses an affordable alternative. The Contained Home was built mostly by putting together five metal containers, creating 2,600 square feet of unbelievable living and entertaining space.
