A PASSIONATE DECOR

His profound passion for architecture, music and fashion has evidently been an influence in Danish fashion designer David Andersen's home. His slick yet rustic pad is filled with amazing show-stopping pieces, like the fab African antelope taxidermy above the fireplace and the stunning tripod floor lamp in the living room. They add a bit of raw and industrial vibe to the minimalist home. Although David's palette of choice for the decor is mostly black and white (a man after my own heat), a subtle sprinkle of hot pink made its way on to the legs of the dining room table—a fun touch of adding an element of surprise. Double sigh!!

HANG IT ALL

The timeless classic coat rack by Charles and Ray Eames has always been a favorite of mine. Although I loved the original Hang-It-All version with the multi-colored lacquered balls, I'm elated to see new colors added the collection. Now an all-black and all-white versions available for those who want to keep things to a minimal — like moi. It was about time!

WITH FASHION IN MIND

Inspired by the strong graphic style of fashion designers Rick Owens and Damir Doma, fashion stylist Sofia Ragnwald Odier and fashion photographer Nils Odier renovated this old farmhouse into a sleek country home for their family. They decided to replace their big city life in Stockholm, with a quiter and more relaxing lifestyle in the countryside to be in touch with nature and offer their kids more space to live and play. Their mostly black and white decor is offset by beautiful wooden furnishings and an collection of whimsical accessories that add that glimpses of their personalities to the home.

THE POWER OF BLACK

I've always had a crush with the color black. Probably for it's strong and bold presence among other colors in the spectrum. It's such an easy hue to work with since it's one of the few colors that tie everything together in a room. Whether used as an accent or as the primary color in interiors, black always conveys sophistication and modernism. This sharp-looking house is one of the properties shown in Housing Fair Finland. I love the fact they used black as the predominant color in this home's decor. Although some might feel it makes it look impersonal and cold, the addition of wood furnishings throughout adds the right touch of warmth to each of the rooms. By the way, I would have never thought of painting the ceiling black, but I applaud them for such a bold move. Quite the stunner!

GUEST STYLE

Who says small can't be cool? This fabulous guesthouse in Denmark has all you can ask for a conformable and stylish weekend in the country. The 53 square-foot annex was beautifully designed by Martin Degener Architect outside of Copenhangen. I'm quite certain the lucky guests staying in this chic retreat will enjoy all the amenities one can dream of and more. Happy weekend!

SHADES OF GRAY

Dark, monochromatic decor is most often associated with masculine interiors, but this stunning Stockholm apartment proves that theory wrong. Its minimalist yet warm ambiance has enough soft details that makes it versatile. I find it interesting how they decided not paint the walls all the way to the ceiling, creating a sort of molding effect—a technique that works best with high ceilings and smooth walls. Another lovely detail is the rug-like pattern they designed with black and white tiles in the foyer and kitchen, a cool way of bringing visual interest to both areas. I love everything about this Scandinavian nest!

FAMILY MATTERS

In celebration of family, love and life BODIE and FOU commissioned one of my favorite English artist Kerry Layton to create this bold and graphic Family Hearts print as a gentle yet beautiful reminder of what is important in life: family. Each print has the phrase LA FAMILLE... C'EST IMPORTANT inscripted to remind us how dear our families are. Don't you just love it? Happy weekend!

A LITTLE BIT OF MAGIC

It doesn't take much to convert your nest into the space you've always dreamt of. With a little creativity, some TLC and a gallon or two of paint, you can really do magic. That's what Sofia and Nils did when they moved into this sweet Stockholm apartment. Wanting to visually stretch the space, they painted the whole apartment, including the floors and trims, white. They also thought that by removing the old closets and creating custom built-in shelves to display their books and accessories, the apartment would feel more personalized. Like many DIYers, Sofia is a flea market junkie. She has a knack for spotting amazing finds she can later transform into cool-looking pieces to add to her industrial chic home.
