A LITTLE BIT OF MAGIC

It doesn't take much to convert your nest into the space you've always dreamt of. With a little creativity, some TLC and a gallon or two of paint, you can really do magic. That's what Sofia and Nils did when they moved into this sweet Stockholm apartment. Wanting to visually stretch the space, they painted the whole apartment, including the floors and trims, white. They also thought that by removing the old closets and creating custom built-in shelves to display their books and accessories, the apartment would feel more personalized. Like many DIYers, Sofia is a flea market junkie. She has a knack for spotting amazing finds she can later transform into cool-looking pieces to add to her industrial chic home.

SOUNDS FROM THE PAST

Everything old is new again —a fabulous trend I've been observing everywhere I go. It's sort of a nostalgic movement that celebrates wonderful design and ingenuity of yesteryear. Take for instance this stylish iPad or iPhone sound amplifier designed by industrial designer Matt Richmond. He took inspiration from a 1920s Victrola horn he found in an antique shop to create this super cool Gramaphone for Restoration Hardware. It definitely stands apart from the typical music docks.

FLIPPING IT AROUND

Leave it to the fabulously ingenious Danish design and architect studio Norm to come up with such a cool multifunctional piece of furniture. The Flip Around Table for Menu is incredibly convenient for small spaces as it gives you the best of both worlds: a beautiful stool for extra seating and a table that can serve as a night stand or side table. How handy is that? I simply love everything they do.

SKULLICIOUSLY CHIC

Skulls have been all the rage for some time now. They've been popping up everywhere in art, fashion and of course home decor. This fad has been interpreted in many styles, some more unique than others. But this trend is still strong and is not going anywhere any time soon. Although this iconic symbol is not everyone's cup of tea, I'm always delighted to find new applications for us to decorate with. Inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations, the fantastic Sugar Skull wallpaper is a sophisticated twist and a great accent for any interior.

IN PERFECT HARMONY

I can't grasp with the idea that April is already here, and Summer will arrive in a blink of an eye. But for now, let's celebrate the beginning of a new month with this gorg kitchen from our friends at Sköna Hem. In a striking palette of black and white (one of my favorite color combos), this kitchen shows how this two opposites can come together in perfect harmony to create such an welcoming space. Ideal setting for a Monday morning cup of joe.

THE POWER OF BLACK & WHITE

There's nothing more pure and beautiful than the use of black and white in interiors. Although it's a very basic color palette, this two colors make a dynamic duo when placed in the same room. I recently came across Universal Blueprint and I spend quite some time drooling over the exquisite curation of their Tumblr page. Since I don't like keeping great finds to myslef, I thought I'd entice you to pay their site a visit with a few of the heart-stopping images that caught my eye. Enjoy!!

EDITING AT ITS BEST

It's quite obvious this is not the home of a hoarder, but the serene sanctuary of a meticulous couple like Jesper and Majbritt. Their Copenhagen nest is a beautifully edited composition of mid-century pieces accented by an eclectic mix of artwork. For them less is more and to avoid cluttering their space the follow a rule a live by: when something comes in, another must go out. Trust me, as hard as it is to get rid of some of your precious pocessions, it's the only way of keeping things tidy. Surely, keeping your color palette to a minimum as they did also helps.
