Living In 500 Sq. Feet • The Bedroom

So here it is: the final details on our pad's renovation. But before I start with all the juicy details, I'm very excited to tell you our tiny place made it into Apartment Therapy's Small/Cool Contest. So it would be sweet if I could count with your support to win our category and be able to go to the finals. All you need to do is go to this LINK and make it your favorite. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the love :)

Now, let's get back to business. Although it's the last room in the series, the bedroom is the one I'm proudest of because it presented the biggest challenge due to it's teeny-tiny size (7'7"wide  x 15'3"long). Besides the bed and nightstands, we needed to create room for as many closets as we could fit. The best solution we found was to knock down the existing wall to open up the room into the living area. That's when we came up with the idea to build an L-shaped partition that would house the closets.

Living Out of a Box

I don't know about you, but I don't like moving. Although I've moved quite a bit throughout my life, I like staying put in one place and enjoying my home for a while. But if you're the kind of person who's on the move all the time and tired of living out of packing boxes, I just found the perfect thing for you. The Caluso Concept gives people the flexibility and mobility to change residence without the hassle of packing and unpacking. It's a complete set of room furniture which can be set up (without any tools) in less than ten minutes and later disassembled and repacked in a whim. Believe it or not, the 31.5” by 47.2” box includes a wardrobe, a large desk/table, a separate cabinet with locking drawers, a revolving and height-adjustable desk chair, two stools, a single bed with a mattress and a tall set of shelves. But if you're concerned about storage, the stools and the desk drawers of the desk cabinet also double as additional storage containers. Quite unbelievable!

Fashionable stays

Every September, New York Fashion Week brings to the city an atmosphere of glamour and fabulosity. Everyone and anyone in the fashion community (or not) flocks to the Big Apple to witness the latest creations the dictators of style present to the world. It is why I decided to dedicate this post to fashion and the influence it has in our lives, even where we sleep.

What does Christian Lacroix, Giorgio Armani, Diane von Furstenberg, Missoni and Phillip Tracey have in common besides being fashion power houses? They're now lending their magnificent talent to the world of interior design and creating chic and luxurious cribs for you to crash while traveling around the world. It's so evident that each one of them has translated their fashion philosophy and style into these unique boutique hotels.

If you have the chance to stay at the Hotel Le Notre Dame in Paris you'll see les chambres are as eccentric as their creator, the infamous Christian Lacroix.
