THE ISMS OF ART

One can never have enough artwork in their home, especially when its as cool and affordable as these super graphic fine art prints by Genis Carreras. Hanging a set of four or six of them on a crisp white will create a dramatic statement. Don't you think? If you like these, you'll love the rest of Genis' collection. Take a look here. I've already but the Relativism print on my wish list.

MOUNTING TREASURES

If you like the look of taxidermy but the animal-friendly form of this art, you will fall in love with this eccentric Bicycle Taxidermy by Regan Appleton. Many sleepless nights at the Royal College of Art and a homesickness for the rugged Scottish highlands, inspired Regan to take his father’s once prized but long discarded mountain and road bikes and mount the handle bars on a European oak plaque to turn them in rather unique taxidermy. How cool are these? For sure they'd make a wonderful piece or art for your wall.

A MODEL APARTMENT

There's nothing like a place that lives and breathes the personality of the people who use it, like this über funky flat in Stockholm. Home to 30-year-old model Patric Ohlund, this apartment is jam-packed with fun and artsy touches. I can't get enough of his skulls and amazing poster collection. One of his great ideas was to display cool books and magazines together with awesome accessories and mementos to create witty vignettes throughout. Although it seems spontaneous, I'm sure everything in Patric's place is carefully curated.

A SPLASH OF ROCK-AND-ROLL

In this ravishing Barcelona flat, art director and interior designer Cristina Ramos has merged, together with her husband-photographer Txema Yeste, a brilliant mix of decorative styles with a beautiful dose of color and a pinch of humor. A few of the original architectural features like doors and moldings were kept in the restoration carried out nine years ago, but the jewel in the crown is the hydraulic tile flooring characteristic of Barcelona homes in the early 20th century. I love how they managed to convert each room into a unique space sprinkled with multiple influences from the 70s, Art Deco, Neoclassicism, Bohemian and Industrial styles with a splash of Rock-and-Roll —of course always keeping in mind comfort and quality.

THE ABC'S OF STYLE

Are you looking for ways of quickly adding spunk to your home? Well, oversized letters might be your ticket—they're great graphic elements that will inject some fun to your home in a flash. This trend of using typography in your decor has been around for while, but it's one that never gets old. Today's dose of eye candy will give you some ideas on how to incorporate this trend in your space. i'm particularly love how the giant ‘E’ above is used as a bookshelf while creating a strong focal point in the room. It's seriously bananas!

METAPHORICALLY SPEAKING

I'm a sucker for fun conceptual art. That's why when I spotted this series of sculptures I felt the urge to share them with you and hoped you would love them as much as I do. Created by American artist Michael Jantzen, ‘The House As A Metaphor’ are conceptual sculptures that incorporate a simple symbolic shape of a house in each of the pieces. Some of their names are directly related to its final form (like ‘Heads of the House’ above), but in others the relationship is less obvious. However, in every case the artist's intention was to play with the image of the house and have some fun with it—which I think he definitely did. Which one is your favorite? Mine? Hmmm... I would have to say ‘Dream House’ and ‘House Flipper’.

INGENIOUS SHADES

Today, I thought I'd give you a short break from beautiful interiors and wow you with these phenomenally witty, sculptural images by Stockholm-based photographer Philip Karlberg. An idea that started a few months back materialized in this crazy fun project for shelter publication Plaza Magazine. Overall, it took him six days and about 1,200 wooden sticks to recreate six ingenious portraits of some classic sunglasses wearers like Johnny Depp, Jackie O, Karl Lagerfeld, Lady Gaga, John Belushi and Steve McQueen (from top to bottom). Aren't they amazing? Bravo to Philip for his patience and imagination.

MORE THAN ART

One of the things on my must-do list when traveling to a new city, is paying a visit to the local Modern Art Museum. So Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen wasn't going to be an exception. After a 40-minute train ride from Central Station, and a short walk through a beautiful suburban street, we arrived at the most stunning setting I've ever seen for a museum. Absolutely breathtaking. An amazing sculpture park faces the sea and the interaction between art, nature and the museum's architecture is quite unique. One of the largest museums in Scandinavia, its permanent collection includes over 3000 works from artists like Picasso, Giacometti, Yves Klein, Andy Warhol and Rauschenberg, among many others. Luckily, we were also able to see the New Nordic, a super cool exhibit that explores how ‘Nordic’ features are reflected in their architecture. Lousiana is truly a magical place. More than a museum, it's a great destination where we spent a glorious sunny Sunday enjoying art, strolling through splendid grounds, and eating delicious buffet spread with local fares in their Mid-Century decorated cafe. Most definitely, this is a museum you should add to your list of places to visit.
