IN PERFECT HARMONY

I can't grasp with the idea that April is already here, and Summer will arrive in a blink of an eye. But for now, let's celebrate the beginning of a new month with this gorg kitchen from our friends at Sköna Hem. In a striking palette of black and white (one of my favorite color combos), this kitchen shows how this two opposites can come together in perfect harmony to create such an welcoming space. Ideal setting for a Monday morning cup of joe.

A BUG ON THE WALL

I don't know about you but bugs are not my cup of tea. But these in particular are so cool that I wouldn't mind having them up on my wall. Danish photographers Mads Hagedorn-Olsen and Anders Morell's passion for insects and tiny winged creatures inspired them to photograph selected types of beetles and butterflies to create a beautiful series of art prints. The limited edition prints have a look that conjures up visions of old silk screen images. I'm digging them so much that I'm seriously thinking of bringing a couple of these precious critters into my home.

WARRIORS OF DESIGN

The secret is in the styling. Of course, taste and creativity are key too. For the creative team behind the Swedish Design Studio The Love Warriors these attributes are innate. From interior design to brand building, this talented team of four excel in their trade. Besides their wonderful design work, they love to travel the world in search of unique items and hidden gems to sell in their store. These beautifully curated images capture a few of their special treasures available in Le Shop. And guess what? I already started making my wish list.

SNUGGLY COOLNESS

How can you turn a simple empty bottle into a super chic flower vase? Germany-based design company Snug has found a cool solution for this. With just a few folds they have transformed a basic piece of cardboard and made the Snug Vase—a geometric sleeve to disguise a basic bottle or glass into a sculptural vessel to display your best blooms. Perfect timing since Spring is just around the corner :)

CELEBRATING MODERNISIM

I just came across these wonderful prints inspired by the all-so-iconic Scandinavian aesthetic, and I'm just loving them! It's Liz Lyons' way of paying homage to mid-century, modernist design and designers like Eames, Jacobsen, Saarinen, Cathrineholm, Lindberg among others—and of course some of their most emblematic work. The prints come with a white border, ready for mounting and hand signed by her. You can see her complete collection in her Etsy shop Visual Philosopy. Enjoy!

CELEBRATING A CLASSIC

The iconic Stool 60 is celebrating it's 80th birthday. Designed by architect Alvar Alto in 1933, the 20th-century design classic is the number one seller of Artek's products and one of the most recognizable designs around the world. To commemorate the special occasion, the Finnish product company commissioned a handful of architects and designers to create a limited-edition stool. My favorite interpretations are Rings (above) by Japanese designer Nao Tamura and the whimsical depiction by Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme Des Garcons, with black polka dots.

A WINDOW FIX

There's nothing like walking around the Big Apple taking in all the wonderful inspiration this city displays. Each neighborhood has its own flavor but still in keeping with that captivating New York vibe we can't get enough of. I know that's why I'm totally crushing on these illustrations by New York based graphic designer Jose Guizar. The Windows of New York project is his way of fostering his obsession with this magical Mecca. In his own words it is “a product of countless steps of journey through the city streets, this is a collection of windows that somehow have caught my restless eye out from the never-ending buzz of the city. This project is part an ode to architecture and part a self-challenge to never stop looking up”. How cool is that? These are not all. You must click over to Jose's cool website to enjoy the rest of these wonderful renderings.

EFFECTIVE SIMPLICITY

I always find that the simpler the object is, the more beautiful its design tends to be. Take for instance this minimalist Clamp Lamp designed by Swedish architect Andreas Martin-Löf. By simply using off-the-shelf lighting parts and attaching them to a handmade metal clamp, Andreas created a wonderfully cool and stylish table lamp. I'm telling you, it's all in the craftsmanship and details. I'd say this is my crush of the week.
