THE PERFECT HIDEAWAY

It's often impossible finding a swanky trash can worth displaying in the kitchen, but this trash bin / laundry basket hybrid can proudly sit in my kitchen anytime. Muuto’s new Hideaway bins, by Finnish designer Mika Tolvanen, neatly hides your trash or laundry in style. It's functional and streamlined design conceals the trash bag within when the basket is closed to avoid any unsightly messes, and when open the lid can practically hang on the side of the bin. Hmm, I think I'll add this beauty to my long wish list. Happy weekend!

A DREAMY NEST

I just came back from a wonderful long weekend in upstate New York celebrating Thanksgiving. It really was a terrific and relaxing getaway full of great food and special moments in the company of loved ones. Every time we spend time in the countryside we crave more and more having our own country nest. We tend to explore the small towns in the area and enjoy discovering all their fun shops. However, we can't help paying a visit to a handful of home decor and lifestyle store that we simply love. One of them is Nest located in the beautiful Delaware River community of Narrowsburg, New York. Splendidly curated by Brazilian native and owner, Anna Bern (former art director for W and design director for Vogue magazine), Nest is a dreamy haven filled with country contemporary products ranging from bed and bath, decor, furniture, clothing, accessories and jewelry. Everything in it is right up my alley, particularly the eclectic mix of furnishings I always envision in my dream country home.

MOUNTING TREASURES

If you like the look of taxidermy but the animal-friendly form of this art, you will fall in love with this eccentric Bicycle Taxidermy by Regan Appleton. Many sleepless nights at the Royal College of Art and a homesickness for the rugged Scottish highlands, inspired Regan to take his father’s once prized but long discarded mountain and road bikes and mount the handle bars on a European oak plaque to turn them in rather unique taxidermy. How cool are these? For sure they'd make a wonderful piece or art for your wall.

SETTING UP FOR A CELEBRATION

The countdown for Thanksgiving has started and with it comes the endless list of preparations and decision-making for the special day. Whether deciding which menu to serve or how to decorate for the occasion, it's always fun to give your home a personal touch. Although it's a very traditional and family-oriented holiday, it's always good to infuse fresh ideas when it comes to setting the table. These stunning photos by the talented Line Klein for Alt magazine will spark some cool and out-of-the-box ideas for your tabletop. Dare to mix and match when setting up the table: mix styles, patterns and colors of your tableware to create a statement. This will definitely add a unique flair to the celebration.

LESS IS MORE

Inspired by the classic Scandinavian style, OYOY is one of my favorite Danish decor companies. Primary designer Lotte Fynboe uses graphic shapes, color and exquisite materials superbly to create high-quality home accessories. Focussing on form and function, Lotte adds undertones of simple, Japanese design with her passion for combining colors and materials. Her “less is more” approach helps her conceive a unique blend of clean and functional design. Here are a few drool-worthy photos from their latest collection. I'm sure you'll want everything in it just as much as I do.

A TOASTY SEASON

Temperatures are starting to plunge in New York, quite soon for early November. Looking at how crazy and unpredictable the weather has been around here in the last couple of weeks, I have a gut feeling this Winter is going to be colder than usual. That's why I was so excited to find Toast's Autumn/Winter catalogue. Their new collection is chuck-full of fabby decor, bedding and accessories to make the home all cozy and comfy. These delicious snaps are just wonderful and just what I needed to start warming up. Here are some of my favorite picks from their online shop. Happy weekend!

MOROCCAN CHIC

When I think of Morocco vivid colors, exotic aromas and a magical culture are the first things that pop in my mind. If describing Moroccan interiors, you'll most likely envision woods, colorful textiles and gilded touches. However, this rich style can be interpreted in many ways—you can go super elaborate or take a more modern and minimalist approach. Take for instance these beautiful and stylish spaces from El Ramla Hamra e-catalogue. They can be the perfect inspiration for you to bring a taste of Marrakesh into your lifestyle. By mixing a couple of pieces from this exuberant style with your own decor, you can create your own version of Moroccan Chic.

GO PURPLE

I believe everyone is entitled to respect and understanding by others. By all means, nobody should be harassed or intimidated for being themselves and showing their true colors. October is Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, and today, in observation of Spirit Day, millions of Americans are GOING PURPLE to take a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth who are often bullied to no ends. So with this in mind, and to show my support for this great cause, I decided to share with you beautiful spaces with purple decor—a way of showing my support for this great movement agains such sad epidemic. You can also join in by wearing something purple today.
