I don't know about you, but for me everything needs to have its own place—a basic rule that helps me keep my pad tidy. One of my biggest pet peeves, and one I often get teased about by my friends, is having an overly organized closet, especially since I live with limited square footage. The best way of keeping your wardrobe neat is to plan your closet according to your lifestyle. There are many options how to achieve this, but custom closets are ideal to get the most out of your space. They can be customized to fit your wardrobe and personal needs. Here are some tips that I live by that will make your closet shine:

TROPICAL FLAVOR

This luscious house in Comparta, Portugal is an eclectic design cocktail with a sweet tropical flavor that brightens the spirit. Graphic area rugs play a starring role in the design story by delineating the various living areas in the house—a cool way of adding bright splashes of color to the vast sea of white. Another good move by the designers was to accentuated the minimalist decor with retro touches that give this mansion a modern feel.

AN IMPRESSIVE COLLECTION

After making the decision to sell her Chelsea loft and Hamptons beach house in order to spend time traveling, stylist/photographer Anita Calero just sold part of her impressive collection of mid-century treasures in 20th Century Decorative Arts & Design sale at Christie’s. I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Calero at a photo shoot a few years back in her live/work loft, and I remember being in complete awe of how exquisitely styled her pad was. It was almost as being in the coolest museum where I just wanted to touch everything. I'm sure her new home would be as gorgeous as this one was.

DESIGNING OUT OF THE BOX

The daring use of color in this restored Victorian home in Melbourne, Australia is simply to die. Architects Nick Travers and Justin Northrop from the architecture studio Techne, strategically used just the right pops of color to create a harmonious flow from room to room. Every space in the home is stunning. The playfulness in which the vivid hues were applied is brilliant, particularly against the elegant white canvas of the rooms. I give the creative duo two thumbs up for designing out the box and having fun while doing it. Happy weekend!

It looks like a fun place to meet up with friends for happy hour. Right?
