MODERN-CLASSIC LOVE

If you're a mid-century modern aficionado like moi, then you know how hard it is to find great pieces at prices that won't break the bank. At times, this can be a frustrating task. But with a growing demand for this timeless style, amazing reproductions are being manufactured so close to the originals that you have to be an expert to tell them apart. I'm always in the lookout for these classic beauties since they add a touch of modernity to any decor without trying so hard. I recently found, Exclusive Mod, a new wonderful online resource that offers a great —and affordable— collection of modern reproductions. So if you happen to be in the market for a Verner Panton style chair or an Arne Jacobsen Egg chair (among many others), then you're in luck. Our friends at Exclusive Mod are extending our readers a unique discount coupon worth 25% off their purchase. It's siimple: just remember to use coupon code DESIGNERPAD25 at checkout. Shop away!

GUEST STYLE

Who says small can't be cool? This fabulous guesthouse in Denmark has all you can ask for a conformable and stylish weekend in the country. The 53 square-foot annex was beautifully designed by Martin Degener Architect outside of Copenhangen. I'm quite certain the lucky guests staying in this chic retreat will enjoy all the amenities one can dream of and more. Happy weekend!

PLAYFUL MINIMALISM

I can't get enough of this beautiful series of prints by Spencer Harrison of Happy Studio. His minimalist interpretations of everyday objects, both in form and colors, is what makes them so fun and whimsical. All 100 prints in the series are also available as iPhone cases, throw pillows, laptop decals, t-shirts and totes. But if 100 are not enough for you, he comes out with a new design every week. They're so sweet that I'm having a hard time to choose my favorites. But here are some in my list.

SUMMER WHITES

It took five years of meticulous renovating to transform a former 1920s schoolhouse into this magnificent Summer home in southern Sweden. The refurbished house has a timeless decor with an unmistakably personal touch. White walls reflect the shifting daylight that pours through the oversized floor-to-ceiling windows — perfect to contemplate the breathtaking views and roaming deer.

RUSTIC IS THE NEW BLACK

Haven't you noticed how the farmhouse look is the latest rage now? This rustic trend seems to be the “in” style and it's popping in every shelter magazine and book. I personally love it, especially when mixed with modern decor. Take for instance this converted farmhouse in Burgundy, France. Its charming architecture is complemented by the use of contemporary furnishings and accessories, creating a warm and sophisticated country retreat. If I could only be there right now. Happy weekend!

COLOR COATED

This is by far one of the coolest learning centers I've ever seen. The Spanish school 2day Languages in Valencia, Spain, was designed by Masquespacio using the three colors of the brand to color code each space. The sorbet-like palette is used beautifully creating a gradient effect on the walls—a cool technique to add softness to the rooms. There's no doubt the students in this school are very lucky. Who in the right mind will not love to learn Spanish in a place like this? It must be quite the learning experience.

IT'S ALL IN THE STAGING

Model apartments tend to be cold and impersonal, which in a sense in quite the opposite look you want to have when trying to attract prospect buyers or renters. If staged right, and with enough attention paid to details, they should feel homey and inviting — the whole purpose of investing time and money to decorate them. Believe it or not, this lovely Stockholm flat is a model unit for a brand new apartment complex designed by Wingårdhs Architects for the developers Folkhem. The beautiful choice of furnishings and color palette makes this pad rather attractive to any possible homeowner or tenant. The wood details and lovely accessories gives it a lived-in feel which will entice anyone to want to live here. I can definitely fall for it.
