SOUNDS FROM THE PAST

Everything old is new again —a fabulous trend I've been observing everywhere I go. It's sort of a nostalgic movement that celebrates wonderful design and ingenuity of yesteryear. Take for instance this stylish iPad or iPhone sound amplifier designed by industrial designer Matt Richmond. He took inspiration from a 1920s Victrola horn he found in an antique shop to create this super cool Gramaphone for Restoration Hardware. It definitely stands apart from the typical music docks.

A SEASIDE HAVEN

Please, don't think I've abandoned your or my blogging duties for that matter. I've been just working tirelessly in a project that has kept me away from the keyboard. But after a week of nonstop running around I'm back in front of my computer set and ready to indulge you with a lot more design fabulosity. And what better way to resume my devoir than by showcasing this amazing villa in The Netherlands. After a much needed renovation by architectural firm Maxwan, this seaside beauty was redesigned into a modern haven with breathtaking views. Besides the vast amount of floor-to-ceiling windows, the coolest feature in the house is the spiral staircase adorned with a lace-like pattern. It adds a touch of whimsy to a rather minimalist space.

A SWEET PALETTE

For all the chocoholics out there this one is for you! I just couldn't resist the temptation and had to share this super cool project by Swiss photographer Ramses Schweizer. He concocted Chocotone, a make-shift Pantone color guide using a diverse variety of chocolate bars. He used the letters C for chocolate, N for nuts, H for honey and G for grapes, ultimately completing a sweet palette of 25 delicious tones. Do you have a favorite? Yummm!!

SIMPLICITY AT ITS BEST

Let's finish this working week by taking a tour of this gorgeous Victorian home in East London. Its uncluttered and airy, open layout makes it the ideal place to spend a relaxing and peaceful weekend with loved ones. Light flows beautifully throughout all the rooms, highlighting the sublime textures and materials they used in the decor. Simplicity is what makes it so inviting. Happy weekend!

TRAINING IN STYLE

I've always enjoyed working out, especially if I feel extremely motivated by the space I'm going to be spending part of my day exercising in. Most gyms are raising the bar when it comes to their look and services. They're trying pretty hard to make members feel special by creating a welcoming atmosphere. It's not just about how good the equipment is but how stimulating everything around them can be. Architect Andreas Martin-Löf designed this exclusive fitness club in a former post office building in Stockholm. He paid special attention to details to create a homey space where people can enjoy their workout to the max—and making a not-so-enjoyable chore for some more enjoyable. I would join this gym in a heartbeat.

A RUSTIC SURPRISE

It really doesn't take much to create a peaceful environment for your home. This charming flat in Stockholm is a perfect example of how simplicity combined with great taste can do a lot. They used the bones of apartment to highlight its beautiful original architecture. Their neutral color palette is enhanced by sprinkles of peacock blue spontaneously scattered around their home. But the most amazing feature in this Scandinavian home is the distressed pair of doors that lead to the bedroom—they add a cool rustic surprise to a very impeccably clean decor.

FLIPPING IT AROUND

Leave it to the fabulously ingenious Danish design and architect studio Norm to come up with such a cool multifunctional piece of furniture. The Flip Around Table for Menu is incredibly convenient for small spaces as it gives you the best of both worlds: a beautiful stool for extra seating and a table that can serve as a night stand or side table. How handy is that? I simply love everything they do.
