FAMILY MATTERS

In celebration of family, love and life BODIE and FOU commissioned one of my favorite English artist Kerry Layton to create this bold and graphic Family Hearts print as a gentle yet beautiful reminder of what is important in life: family. Each print has the phrase LA FAMILLE... C'EST IMPORTANT inscripted to remind us how dear our families are. Don't you just love it? Happy weekend!

CELEBRATING AN ICON

Someone is celebrating a landmark birthday—and it's not me. Actually, the iconic Hans Wegner‘s Shell Chair is turning 50 and to commemorate the event Danish manufacturer Carl Hansen & Son has partnered with textile company Maharam to create 20 new re-editioned Shell Chairs—each with a different textile and coordinating wood frame. Although it was hard to pick, these are some of my faves. I just love the fabric/wood combo on them. If you want to take a look at the other 13 just click here.

TRAINING IN STYLE

I've always enjoyed working out, especially if I feel extremely motivated by the space I'm going to be spending part of my day exercising in. Most gyms are raising the bar when it comes to their look and services. They're trying pretty hard to make members feel special by creating a welcoming atmosphere. It's not just about how good the equipment is but how stimulating everything around them can be. Architect Andreas Martin-Löf designed this exclusive fitness club in a former post office building in Stockholm. He paid special attention to details to create a homey space where people can enjoy their workout to the max—and making a not-so-enjoyable chore for some more enjoyable. I would join this gym in a heartbeat.

SKULLICIOUSLY CHIC

Skulls have been all the rage for some time now. They've been popping up everywhere in art, fashion and of course home decor. This fad has been interpreted in many styles, some more unique than others. But this trend is still strong and is not going anywhere any time soon. Although this iconic symbol is not everyone's cup of tea, I'm always delighted to find new applications for us to decorate with. Inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations, the fantastic Sugar Skull wallpaper is a sophisticated twist and a great accent for any interior.

FOR A RAINY SEASON

Just in time for Spring, this gorgeous umbrella stand by London Undercover and Method Studio makes a fine debut. Handmade in Linlithgow, Scotland, its design is duly inspired by the opening of an umbrella and is constructed from twelve solid oak staves individually jointed around a specially designed waterproof upper ring and drip-tray base. A darn good-looking addition to the foyer. I'd say. Curious? These are a few other of my favorite umbrella stands.

AN ATTENTION GETTER

There are some rooms that just demand our attention. They're filled with so many great details that we need to do a double take to really capture all their nifty ideas. This lovely dining room is one of them. I can't stand how simple and beautiful it is. From the fun mix of chairs to the graphic oval shape on the wall, I love everything about it, even the neon stripe that runs along the edge of the banquette. It's so in trend.

CAMPY AND FRESH

I know it's too soon to be thinking about beach weather, but I guess it's my wishful thinking that inspired me to feature this fun collection of outdoor furniture by Colonel. I love every piece in the collection but I'm particularly taken by the new Caracas chair—a fresh and contemporary version of the 60's camping chair. Besides looking comfy and inviting, the chair holds a special place in my heart because it shares the name of my birth city. (I thought you'd enjoy that bit of trivia). Happy weekend!

ONE COOL TROPHY

I have some sort of fascination with taxidermy—modern interpretations, that is. So I get extremely excited every time I come across these modern wall trophies as they add an air of tradition to contemporary spaces. This Steel Fox Head by Cracow-based industrial designer Magdalena Chojnacka is my latest obsession. Her Wild Head Series is an attempt to give respect to this threatened world. Hmm, I guess that's a cool way of looking at it. Triple love!
