MY GUILTY PLEASURE

I don't know about you, but Downton Abbey is of my favorite TV shows of all times, to the point that it's become my new guilty pleasure. I can't wait for Sunday nights to come to see what the new episode will bring. Unfortunately, tomorrow's episode is the second season finale (nooooooooo!!!), so who knows how long we'll have to wait for season three to come around. I'm telling you, this show is addictive. It has everybody talking about it so much that it has become the water cooler topic of the month. It's soooo good that it reminds me of the telelenovelas I used to watch back home when I was kid. But thanks to Kyle Hilton, these four sets of Downton Abbey paper dolls will keep us entertained until the next season starts. Aren't they hilarious?

A FINE DINING EXPERIENCE

As part of a collaborative effort between Danish furniture company BoConcept and Egyptian-born designer Karim Rashid, this collection of affordable dining room pieces is just to die for. Every single piece in the Ottowa Collection has the distinctive fun and quirky style that Rashid is known for. It includes a complete dining room set with table, chairs, sideboard and cabinet. But that's not all. Rashid wanted to extend his vision to complementing accessories as well to create a complete dining experience. From lamps, dishes and vases the accessories add the finishing touches to the room. But one of my favorites is the bold black and white fingerprint rug that I find simply irresistible. Although the collection was designed for the dining room, most of its components would work just as well in any room of the home.

A Bright Spot in The Kitchen

Bright colors, grids and fun, graphic patterns are staples in the work of Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings—the real-life couple behind the Amsterdam studio Scholten & Baijings. These gorgeous tea towels are part of a collection they designed for the Danish house wares company Hay Denmark. They're ideal in size and are made from a high-grade, soft woven cotton. I particularly love the color combinations and the pop of neon they sprinkle in their design.

Handmade With Love

Wood keeps us connected with nature and the feeling for a simpler, slower life in this hurly burly world, while iron gives it a bit of industrial look and feel. Dutch company Slowwood combines both of this fine materials in this lovely collection of tables and desks. The Mun Collection offers a family of pieces that relate to each other, allowing you to mix and match. Slowwod's philosophy is to create timeless pieces of quality furniture with a raw natural elegance and a low impact on the planet. Honest tactile products that are made to last and fit in your home easily. Each piece is handmade with love and attention by local craftsmen in Fryslan —a province in the north of the Netherlands— using solid wood, 100% natural finishes and mineral paint. I'm in love with the simplicity and streamlined look of their pieces, but mostly the gorgeously staged images by photographer and stylist team Ben Lambers and Tatjana Quax.

Bravo! Bravo!

There's nothing better than enjoying a lazy Saturday morning with breakfast in bed, especially with an Italian beauty by your side. This slick tray table designed by Italian company Idoppia can also be used to read the paper on your laptop, study or write. With just four folds, Bravo is made of a single sheet of aluminum measuring just three millimeters thick. It was brilliantly designed with plenty of surface space and very cute details, like a trickle by the cup holder that falls along the leg of the table as if the material was melting. Enjoy your Saturday.

Mapping The Walls

It's not always easy finding great artwork for your walls, especially at prices accessible to everyone. But thanks to Jane Tobitt and David Wardle of design collective Bold and Noble, we can enjoy these fun and ingenious maps made up of typography. It's a way of having a piece of your favorite destination right at home. Besides adorning your walls, all their prints are friendly to the environment. They're all silk screened on 100% recycled paper and shipped on sustainable cardboard tubes. But if maps are not your cup of tea, you must take a look at their great collection of graphic prints and fun educational posters for kids. They're a visual treat!
