A BUG ON THE WALL

I don't know about you but bugs are not my cup of tea. But these in particular are so cool that I wouldn't mind having them up on my wall. Danish photographers Mads Hagedorn-Olsen and Anders Morell's passion for insects and tiny winged creatures inspired them to photograph selected types of beetles and butterflies to create a beautiful series of art prints. The limited edition prints have a look that conjures up visions of old silk screen images. I'm digging them so much that I'm seriously thinking of bringing a couple of these precious critters into my home.

INSPIRED BY THE PAST

I'm always fascinated to learn how designers come about their wonderful creations. A few weeks back I visited my dear friend and talented designer Deborah Ehrlich at her gorgeous Hudson Valley farmhouse (which I featured here) and had a glimpse at one of her new pieces — the Crystal Jelly Jar Shade. Although she's mostly known for her paper thin, clear-as-water, and absolutely flawless crystal glassware, Deborah thought it would be cool to venture into the world of lighting. Her inspiration came from the ingenuity of farmers who back in the days transformed basic jelly jars into impromptu shades for their lighting fixtures. Her classy version is meticulously hand blown in Sweden and is a testament of the purity and delicacy of her work. So guess what? To celebrate the start of its production Deborah is having a launch sale on Fab.com through this Thursday (hurry, time is runnin out). The lamp iincludes the ceiling fixture with porcelain base, patinaed brass fittings and the crystal jelly jar shade. I'm beyond-words thrilled to see the final product come to life.

CELEBRATING MODERNISIM

I just came across these wonderful prints inspired by the all-so-iconic Scandinavian aesthetic, and I'm just loving them! It's Liz Lyons' way of paying homage to mid-century, modernist design and designers like Eames, Jacobsen, Saarinen, Cathrineholm, Lindberg among others—and of course some of their most emblematic work. The prints come with a white border, ready for mounting and hand signed by her. You can see her complete collection in her Etsy shop Visual Philosopy. Enjoy!

JUST ADD WATER

These are the kind of finds that give me an instant smile. Maybe it's their cheerful colors or simply because they bring back happy memories of Summer. Either way, this fabulous version of the classic garden hose will add a touch of coolness to your outdoors. The Dramm Hose from West Elm is made of rubber and nickel-plated brass and resists kinking and coils easily, even in cold weather. The yellow one is my favorite... which one is yours?

A TOUCH OF VINTAGE MODERN

I'm glad I stumbled upon these wonderful swinging wall lamps created by Logan Hendrikson from Onefortythree. Logan started designing and building furniture and lighting fixtures for his own house to later launch his online shop where he sells his mid-century inspired collection. His lamps are hand-bent and welded with durable powder coated finish in matte black or gloss white. The sockets are made of real Teak or Walnut wood veneer and wired with a cloth twisted cord to give it that vintage feel. I'm really liking the simple lines of these lamps. They're perfect if you're looking to add a little bit of industrial chic to your home.
