MIRROR, MIRROR AGAINST THE WALL

Besides being necessary and useful accessories in our homes, mirrors are great pieces that create the illusion of space and can make a wonderful statement in any interior. Whether ornate or minimalist, mirrors are must-have items in any decor. This simplistic collection of standing mirrors, designed by Spain-based La Mamba Design Studio, has everything going for it: great lines and a wonderful presence that will make anyone look good. The Mirrors were designed to lean against a wall, supported on long steel tubular legs with cork feet. They are available here in black, and three different styles: circular, vertical and horizontal. Which one is the fairest of them all?

HAPPY FACES

When I saw these adorable floor lamps I simply had to smile. Faces (that's their name) are designed by interior designers Isabelle Gilles and Yann Poncelet of Colonel. I love how simply their design is. The lamps consists of tripod-like base made in solid beech and a shade covered in felt, where they decided to add the right touch of color. Even the fabric that covers the wire matches the color of the shade — how cute is that? The shades can also be tilted to redirect the light to your needs. Happy Saturday!!

A Theme From The Past

Representing four decades of distinct design styles, this wallpaper collection by Graham & Brown celebrates great British creativity. The collection includes four designs that take its inspiration from a different decade. Inspired by the 1930s glittering glamour, Deco Diamond takes its cue from the era's emerald onyx ornaments and enamel kitchenware. For any mid-century modern fan, Grid is Mad Men 50s chic, combining the decades graphic print influences with a watercolor palette and influenced by the classic British 'caff table tops of the era. Celebrating all that's great about the swinging 60s, Loopy Lines heralds from the free-flowing style of the time and the modernist movement. And finally, Do the Stretch embraces a bold design and groovy colors that capture the 70s glam rock stars and science fiction mania with a hint of space odyssey. But no matter which decade is your favorite, any of these awesome patterns will bring back the fabulousness from yesteryear.

If you like home furnishings that make a statement, these rugs by Swedish designer Therese Sennerholt will definitely do the trick. Pendant Constellations

Lighting is paramount when setting the mood in a home. With the huge variety available to us, sometimes it's hard to choose the perfect lighting fixture to fit our style. But I'm all for being creative and using different and unique lamps whenever possible. For instance, these quirky Antlers Lamps, by designer Volker Haug, are all that and more and will definitely make a statement above any dining room table or wherever a fanciful touch is needed. These constellation-like lamps are beautifully handcrafted in porcelain components glazed in brown or white. He get his inspiration by “shopping at places like fishing shops, Asian kitchenware stores, salvage yards, junk shops and leather wholesalers, just to name a few. It’s not uncommon to see on his studio a new design being created from a range of unusual materials such as plumbing joints, tea strainers, woven electrical wire and Japanese calligraphy brushes. His unusual creations can be found in bars, restaurants, cafes or even at your aunty's home. His diverse yet minimalist style can transform any space.”

Hooking Up

We've started feeling the crisp Autumn air in the city, a nice and welcomed change from the humidity that Summer often brings. Even though we're going to have unseasonably warm weather this weekend in New York, it's time to start taking the coats and jackets out of hibernation — which brings me to the reason for this post. It's not easy finding coat rack and hook interpretations that are fun and different, especially when they have to occupy precious real estate on your wall. That's why I'm digging these catchy wooden hooks inspired by the high voltage insulators in electrical conductors. The Thomas Alva Edison Knobs were designed by llot llov, one of Germany's most talked-about design studios. Besides providing a nifty place to hang your winter gear, the knobs become a cool-looking sculpture you can showcase on your wall year round.

A Touch of Hollywood

Sometimes when we think of great design we instantly assume it comes with a pretentious price tag. But thanks for the demand of beautifully-crafted home decor, there has been an outpour of well-known designers and celebrities creating more accessible home collections. The latest to join this list is Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton, whose passion for design motivated her to launch her tabletop and bedding collections K by Keaton. Both are quite beautiful, homey and reflect her distinctive, whimsical personality. The bedding is all about clean graphic patterns and a neutral palette of black, white and greys, whereas the tableware is simple and sturdy with a palette inspired by the heartland. In a way, they have that Scandinavian sensibility I'm crazy about.
