Love is in The Air

I'm a big believer that home is where the heart is. I'm sure the creators behind these kooky pieces feel the same way. From fabulous sitting icons, to even a quirky heart-shaped sink, these adorable creations will definitely add some red-hot passion to your nest. Although “love is all we need,” owning any of them would be even sweeter. What can I say? I fell in love with all of them!

Art Imitating Life

For us bloggers, inspiration is key. We look for it nonstop everywhere around us to try to find that special something to share with our readers. For New Yorker Scott Schuman it's no different. He spends his days roaming the streets of major cities around the world photographing people who look great and different to share on his renowned fashion blog The Sartorialsit. This video captures the essence of his work and gives us a glimpse of his inspiration and thought process. For him, it's like falling in love a little bit everyday. If you haven't had the pleasure of looking at his blog, please do so. You're in for a visual treat!

A Touch of Imperfection

I'm a big promoter of mixing styles when decorating a home. Combining antique or vintage pieces with your modern ones always adds character and personality to any room. You don't want your pad to look like it came out of a catalogue, that's why it's important to add a piece, or two, that show their age. So don't be afraid to integrate a piece from a different era or origin, it will only give your home a touch of history and individuality. Flea markets are a great source for finding these treasures at a more affordable price. Remember, it's all about having fun!

Dimmed Glamour

Yesterday, New York City woke up to a very rainy, gloomy and dark Sunday — one of those days that all you want to do is curl up and enjoy your home. So in that state of mind, I decided to dedicate today's post to exquisitely designed interiors with dark, but drop dead gorgeous ambiance. Not because you choose to use dusky colors in your decor means that they need to be gloomy. To the contrary, dark shades of gray and even black can create dreamy and cozy spaces. Just be smart about it and do it cautiously. Always use a dash of color to break up the monochromatic palette. So don't be afraid of the dark, dare to be stylish and bring some mystery into your life.

A Brave New Color

Winter hasn't started yet and the new trends for next year are already on our doorsteps. Pantone has just named Honeysuckle not only as 2011 Color of the Year, but also as the defining hue for Spring. Courageous and confident, this reddish pink is a dynamic and uplifting color. “In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

Mix & Match

Accessories are as important to your decor as everything else in your home. Through them, you can show a little more of your style and personality. However, it is always a challenge to successfully accesorize your pad. Often, these keepsakes have very special meaning: they're mementos from your travels, family treasures or simply finds you adore. The secret is to create interesting vignettes with balanced compositions playing with different shapes, heights and shades of color. Don't be afraid of trying various arrangements, but editing is key. For this you must trust your eye. These gorgeous images from the portfolio of photographer David Prince, are proof of great displays. I'm a firm believer that accessories should not look forced in a space, they need to blend harmoniously within the rest of your decor. Remember, this is all about you, so have fun showing off your proud possessions.
