These exceptional rooms are simply to die for. They're part of the impressive body of work of French architect and designer Joseph Dirand, famous for his minimalist designs and restrained color palette. By using simple yet strong lines and as few as three colors (black, gray and white), Dirand is a genius at creating powerful design stories in his spaces. They've done it again!

When I came across these beautiful compositions, I knew right away they were the magical work of photographer Carl Kleiner and stylist Evelina Kleiner. Probably these images look familiar to you too. If you remember, they also created these photos for the IKEA cookbook “Homemade is Best”. Obviously, IKEA was so impressed with their talent that they hired them again to work on this new project. This creative duo doesn't stop to amaze me with their imaginative creations and concepts.

A Powerful Scheme

I've always felt that using black and white in home decor is a sure way for creating strikingly elegant and sophisticated interiors. if you're looking for drama and want to create a bold statement in your home, this powerful and basic combo is the ticket. Some might find it boring for the lack of color, but surprisingly it's quite the contrary. Think of white as a blank canvas and black as the outline of a drawing that you can fill in with pops of color whenever you feel the need. As a matter of fact, this is the design story I used when decorating my 500 square-foot New York pad, and it worked perfectly for me. Besides, one of the great benefits of this color scheme is its versatility with most decorating styles. If you're still not sure about embarking on a black and white adventure, and to prove my point, here are some stunning interiors from the talented photographer David Prince's body of work.

He started his design company, Kravitz Design, 13 years ago and has been involved in the business since then. Besides being a world-famous singer and actor, Kravitz can add to his resume projects like the Florida Room at the Delano Hotel in South Beach.
