Style Exposed

When I walk around a neighborhood defined by beautiful old architecture, which New York is full of, I can't help but wonder what's behind those stunning facades. I start making up stories in my head of what these homes look like and whether or not they have been completely modernized. Don't you do the same? I bet you do. There's no question that this magnificent flat in Bilbao, Spain, has gone through an amazing transformation from its original neoclassical style. Interior architect Mikel Larrinaga reinterpreted this apartment with an ultra serene palette, vintage furniture and retro accents that added a high dose of charm. He wanted to convey authenticity and play homage to the initial style of the home: he exposed the brick walls and removed the ceiling to reveal the gorgeous old beams, giving extra height and light to the space. The warmth and sophistication of this pad is really speaking to me. Happy Friday!
