In Hurricane Style

Jeanne Blayau

Later today we're expecting a not-so-welcomed guest: Irene. For the last 24 hours, New Yorkers have been running around preparing for an event rarely seen in this neck of the woods. However, we are ready and able to weather this storm in style. So here's my checklist of cool must-haves to be prepared for the occasion. Unfortunately, we don't know what kind of company Irene will be, so please be safe!

1. Keep Candela Rechargable Lamps around because lighting is everything.
2. Have fun taping the windows with House Industries Alphabet Tape.
3. Lotus Hurrican Lanterns will guide the way if you're left without power.
4. A Wooden Torch Flashlight to avoid getting lost in the dark.
5. Be in the know with the Magno Wooden Battery-powered Radio.
6. Light 'em up with these colorful Stick Lighters.
 7. Comfort food is a must: delicious macarons from Ladurée are finally in New York.
8-9. Stock up on liquids, House Wineetc
10. Keep your matches and candles together with Box Light
11. In case of boredom, play Rethink

Great photo of the city in the storm! BTW, gorgeous blog.
You just made my day by telling me Lauduree is coming to NYC!!! I went to Paris for the first time this spring and fell in love with macaroons, especially the ones from Lauduree. I'm so happy I'll be able to enjoy them more often!

Hi Megan,
I know, I'm a true addict to their macarons, they're absolutely scrumptious. Here's the link to the store: http://www.laduree.fr/en/maisons/monde-details#135
Run, don't walk!
