Daring Inspiration

This tall, dark and handsome pad is quite the catch. The charcoal walls seamlessly unify every single room creating a dramatic and bold statement. Although they used very bright and contrasting colors, the ambiance is quite serene. I love their clever and whimsical use of accessories. You can say the decor is somewhat minimalist, but every piece used in this home certainly has personality. But my all time favorite is the bookshelf wallpaper and how it was used to emphasize the height of the lofty living area. How about that wire-framed lamp shade?

I have to give it to the designers for not being affraid to play with color and proportions. This oversized and quirky wishbone sculpture is divine and it's what makes this space unique, and that insane chandelier by the couch...WOW. I'm almost certain the owners have a great sense of humor, and it's 100% reflected in their interiors. Kudos to them for a magnificent and daring home.

It's amazing. It reminds me of the backgrounds from the Warner Brother cartoons of the mid 1950's, like these from Broom-Stick Bunny, 1956.

The stylized, impressionistic background was done by Phil DeGuard, and it makes the action and characters richer, and cleverer.

Can you tell me what the paint color is on the wall in the first photo? I have been searching for the perfect charcoal gray for my dining room/library and have been really disappointed.

I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi Jenn,
I don't have the exact color name that was used in this home. However, these three from Benjamin Moore are pretty close:

Black Pepper # 2130-40
Eclipse # 2132-40
Anchor Gray # 2160-30 (a little darker than the other two but great too)

I recommend you get the sample size paint so you could try them at home. I hope this helps!
