Eclectic elegance

Who knew that after spending many of his childhood days playing with colorful carpet remnants and arranging make-believe furniture, this talented Graphic Designer turned Interior Stylist, would evolve his early diversion into an amazing career. It is obvious that Graham Moss is a very creative self as you can see in this awesome five-story brownstone in Harlem, NY, which took him two months to design and two ”excruciating but rewarding” years to remodel – and I would say worth the time and sweat. It's simply stunning.

“I think 'eclectic elegance' sums it up well... or maybe it should be 'eccentric elegance'! I love a crazy, curious fusion of classic elements from multiple eras, speaking a new language in a singular voice. Holding everything together through a unifying element (color, shape, texture etc) is much more interesting than just composing a formula of stuff from one style or era. I like to question old boundaries and break stale conventions (not just in my environments - in life too!). I aspire to be more eccentric, unconventional, unique, stimulating, shocking...! Ultimately, comfort is key as well.” says Graham about his design style and philosophy.

With so many special areas in this unique home, Grahams finds the library rather especial (above), mostly because “it's kooky yet cozy, strange yet soulful. It acknowledges the spirit of the old house, but in a fresh fun way.”

For me, what I fancy most about Graham's place is how he managed to spread, in a very extraordinary way, the element of surprise throughout his home, making every corner very especial. Btw, you can see more of his work in his newly launched website and upcoming book to publish soon. Stay tuned.

I'm IN LOVE with every single white figurine feature in here... is this wrong? Oh and don't get me started with the wall 4-square in the last pictures
Monica, I also love all the accessories in Graham's home. I guess being a stylist gives him access to all these wonderful pieces..sigh!
Love how he uses figures and color! He is so theatrical yet not over the top! Thanks for sharing, very inspiring! =)
