The modern take are sculptural objects of outstanding aesthetic value, whether folded or open. And if you live in a tight space these could be a very practical solution, as some fold so flat they can be stored under a bed or in a closet. Besides saving some valuable floor space, folding furniture is also easily portable. The One Shot stool opens up with a simple twist, and the help of gravity, to become a very sturdy seat. Inspired by a folding basket found in a Bulgarian market, The Clip (below) is a stunning and very comfortable lounge chair designed by Blasius Osko and Oliver Deichmann for Moooi, my ultimate favorite!

The Flux Chair, available in an array of colors, was actually inspired by paper sculptures and it's part of a new generation of flexible design, where the Isis Chair, designed by Jake Phipps, is the thinnest folding chair in production folding totally flat to a little more than one inch.

It could be a perfect fit for a dining room or home office. The Scissor table is built of aluminum and it can be comfortably folded with one hand. It can also be equipped with a magazine rack and a pencil tray. The Grand Central is an innovative table that folds out like an origami flower from space-saving occasional table to the central piece of any room.
